Server n00b needs help!

Ok. I need help configuring a server. I downloaded the server thingy and i logged in as an admin. Configured all my stuff, but I can only use my LAN IP address. I am runnin a Netgear MR314 router. Could someone tell me how to switch IP addresses to my global IP address.

Only people outside of you router will use the external ip, as you on the lan you have to use the internal ip.

I did that. I gave the other guys the global IP, but it still gave them an error. Any thoughts?

cable or dsl?

if you have a cable modem, then you were assigned a dynamic wan ip address.

you'll need to sign up with a service (free) to keep track of your wan ip and assign a domain name to it.

i use these places:

http://www.dyndns.org/

http://www.no-ip.com/

make sure you have dhcp disabled on your router...
