"A referral was returned from the server"

Running windows vista on the computer with this issue, had ts2 running fine on it before but after downloading ts3 realised that when opening it it gives the message: A referral was returned from the server. (the program does not open at all)

Anyone have any ideas what this means or how to fix?

Are you running it as Administrator?

Can you load up Event Viewer after trying to launch the server to see if you have something going on with Windows internally? This is very odd to me, hehe. I am sure the devs would have more information, though. Hopefully one will look here.

    Referral Error

When i try to start up TS3 i get the error message:

"A Referral was returned from the server".

I have Windows Vista (If that makes a difference).

I dont have the slightest clue on how to fix it.

    Any ideas?

All i tried was reinstalling it seeing if it downloaded wrong

    Re:

I just closed out of my teamspeak 3 and havn't had any problems and now only 5 minutes later when I try to relaunch it this referral error shows up. I was just on it today with all updates and everything then out of no where it pops this up next time I launch it.

    fixed for me

Just restart your computer and it should run fine. I don't know why or how this fixes it, but it starts right up.

you need to disable User Account Control . this should solve this problem

    1. In windows taskbar click Start to open start menu.
    2. In start menu select and click Control Panel to open.
    3. In Control Panel click "User Account and Family Safety".
    4. In "User Account and Family Safety" click "User Accounts".
    5. In "User Accounts" select and click "Turn User Account Control on or off".
    6. Uncheck "User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" then click O.K button.
    7. Windows will prompt you to restart your computer, click "Restart Now

I don't think, that an admin problem will solve the problem. This way can cause trouble for users without enough computer experince!
