NetGear Routers
Hi all, Just posting this in the hope that it may help some people with TS-3 problems.
Up until recently I was using a cheap and cheerfull modem/router and TS worked fine. I purchased a new Netgear router to fix some other problems(which it did) and thus my TS-3 woes began.
The problem I had was massive packet loss. Of all three types, voice, control and keep alive. When I could hear people (which was rare) they sounded like robots. After some head banging I tried the other 2 main voice comms packages and they were the same. It also turns out I was suffering from massive loss in Steam and general gaming, surfing. Its just they could cope with it better than TS-3. I also had problems connecting to TS-3 servers, timing out from the servers and even switching between channels within a server. I gues this is due to the packet loss of the control messages.
The router in question was a Netgear DG834G running the 5.01.14 firmware.
After some research on the forums I decided to downgrade to 5.01.09.
All my voice comms problems fixed. :-)
There is a 5.03.16 but its not for use outside the US.
