    Banning

So I've banned someone from my server. However, they can STILL log back in repeatedly.

They were banned via IP address, UID and nickname, but still they get back in.

    Something broken?

    LOL...that reminded me of something

Anyways, the only thing that comes to my mind about that issue is that maybe that user/group have "b_client_ignore_bans" set.

I initially thought the same thing, but the group he is assigned to does not have that flag set, nor does he on the client level.

It's not that hard to change ip and unique id. Just ban with an IP range.

Unfortunately ban by ID is totally useless if the bad guy has no power to lose. When TeamSpeak was not released yet I thought TS3 will contain a powerful ban system (locked to installation, registry or hardware). It's not the case and ban by IP range is a bit unprofessional.

He never changed his IP. Always logs in with the same one.

So I guess it wouldn't be that hard for you guys to look into it.

    the banning system seems strange.

example when i type an IP to ban it ends up with "/" in it..

    ex 192/.34/.101/./1

so i dont know if thats on purpose or not because ive never seen that being done to an IP.

also i banned a guys range and like 0.0.0.* and he was able to log back in under the same range? am i meant to keep the "/" in it or not?

    Also when i click the
"interped ip and name as regular expression" it removes the "/" in the ip.

but since i added the ip range in " regular expression" and the person connected with the same range what does this mean?

What your IP Ban will look like in the Ban List is: 200\.100\.15\.5 which is because apparently dots are some kind of special Character in Teamspeak (for whatever reason) and thus needs to be escaped in order to not be interpreted as special character. Thats what the Backslashes in there do. I wasn't aware that dots have some special meaning aswell but obviously thats the case.

As for the Regular Expression checkbox: If ticked you have to specify a Regular Expression which enables you to ban multiple similar IP's with a single Ban Rule. For example you could put the following: [0-9]{3,}+\..*which would prevent anyone whom's IPs first block is higher than 99 from joining your Server. (99.214.12.109 would be able to join but 143.32.15.7 would not)

thanks for clarifying that with the backslashes and regular expression, though your regular expression example - i dont comprehend.

Yeah it's a bit complicated... but maybe after reading through that Wikipedia Article I linked you will (at least partly) get it. Note I didn't actually test the expression but it _should_ work nonetheless
