High packet loss when talking
Whenever i connect to a server...everything is fine, i can connect just fine, and if i check my connection info, it says 0.00% packet loss...no inbound or outbound speech yet, just the usual connection packets...they get sent and received...
But when i start talking, my packet loss starts skyrocketing towards 70%-80%...and the i get disconnected from the server...if i don't release my P2T button, cause then the average packet loss goed back down...
When i talk then, the guys on the other side hear me, but the sound gets cut up every second or so...so they can't understand me...it's the same the other way around, when they talk to me...
Does anyone have any clue as to how i can fix this?? I can use TS2 just fine, but since we switched to a TS3 server already...i'm stuck to talking over steam in-game...

Do you have a small bandwith internet connection ? There is a known problem with these connections, but the devs don't want to implement the TS2 codecs (which don't cause problems in these cases)... There are loads of people out there waiting for this, so you got quite some company.

So it's just hoping they use those codecs again then??
i'm sure hoping that...tried the lowest codecs on TS3 and even then my packet loss goes skyrocketing...

i'm doubting that it's my connection...i've got 15Mbps cable connection...
i am using a wireless router...cause my computer is on the other side of the house...but if my wireless connection was really that crap...i wouldn't be able to play online games now would i? i can play cod:mw2 without any lag...so why can't a simple voip app run on the same connection?
thnx anyway...i see that it's just TS3, and i can't do anything about it...

I dont know what to tell you but im almost 85% sure its NOT TS3...
Like I said I DO NOT have this issue with my SUPER crappy connection, ruling that out, I am also on WiFi, also probably not the issue (unless your configuration is royally screwed or setup by a 2 year old or left at default settings), and have used it on 4 different PC's (not including my shitty home connection) with no packet loss (XP, Vista x32-x64, Win7 x32-x64)...
I SHOUD mention however that I helped on all 4 of these systems during the setup (hell I am the main Tech for their owners), I could be just that good (dreaming eh?)
I would like to know more about your system setup and router setup, and high packet loss in MW2 IS negligible, so saying that because your MW2 works fine that means it HAS to be TS3, is a particularly ARROGANT statement, however as I said a few lines ago, let me know more about your complete setup, and ill try and troubleshoot/help!

I admire your dedication and support of TS3, DSCKerry, however I have the exact same issue with TS3.
It only began after this last update, I had no issue prior to that.
More specifically, Steam updated and then my issue began tonight.
It lags me out of game, and when if look at my connection info, even out of game it has 0.00% packet loss until I push the talk key and speak. then while speaking it rockets up to 70% and still climbing, I let off prior to crashing the app.
Some might ask, how I can tell? I closed everything but TS3 and watched the packet loss climb. No Xfire, no internet explorer, no games.
I don't find it an bandwidth issue, (I game fine if I don't speak in TS3) I don't find it a compatability issue, (everything worked fine before). I don't find it codec issue, as I am using the same programs and codecs as before, only now I have an issue.
I am guessing that it is either the Steam Update, the TS3 Update, or both conflicting somehow. It is definately out of my area of understanding.
None the less,
Anyone here have any constructive ideas on what to try? I am gonna uninstall TS3 and reinstall it, but I am out of ideas other than that.
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Spider

Well...i do think it's TS3...why do i think that...process of elimination...
Connection: fine...all connection tests show good connection with minimal packet loss...and even if minor packet loss is irrellevant for MW2...i would think that if over 70% of your packets where to be lost and had to be resent...i'd experience a shitload of lag...
Sound card: fine...my headset works just fine on TS2 and steam voice chat...if my computer is good enough for those things...why then isn't it good enought for TS3...even on lowest codecs...
I have wifi...but i never had 70% packet loss...i know...i tested it...
all these things sure point to TS3 being the source of the problem...

I cant offer you my server to connect to for testing (well i could but its in the USA, California to be more precise, PM me however if you are intersted) and because of its location in the US, so that might not be a good test...
a few questions however: server location? pc location in relation to server? do all users on your server have this same issue? os? and i would ask a few more questions but i cant think of them
the 7 (common) users on my server (not including the randys, these are people i have known for a while), I asked to watch this as well and they, nor I have this issue, we are using the latest Server and Client, Server is Win2008x64 using MySQL, Clients are mixed from windows to linux x32 and x64 (4XP users 2Vista users and 1 Win7 user for my common friends)
none-the-less id really like to help if i can (but seeing as we are worlds apart not so much possible LOL, basically i could remote connect to have a look but since your OS us not using english i wouldnt know my way around too well unless its a default install!)

Here is all the information that would be relevant and would eliminate the server location as an issue. I hope eliminating these issues can help find the cause.
1. I had no previous issues using TS3 since it was released. i have used it for quite some time now. After the last Steam update and TS3 update they were within a day of each other, I began having packet loss.
2. Other people in my same town do not have this issue, connecting through the same nodes and jumps, to the same server.
I am running a Q6600 quad core, 8gb ram, gtx 280, xfi extreme gamer sound card, cable connection, netgear gaming router, no issues before the last update from TS3 and Steam -- ever.
So, any suggestions on correcting this issue?

Correcting? No, sorry. But you can easily examine if its a problem with your (upstream) bandwith.
Go to a Page wich measures your connection bandwith (eg. http://www.speedtest.net/). Of course, nobody should use the internet when you measure your connection (steam off, everything else off, etc.).
Post your results, and we will have a look.
Also is your packet loss only outbound or out- and inbound?

Been a hectic week... sorry if I seem to have dropped off here...
OK, so I helped a few people out, they know who they are on the forums.
A few things, For some reason for me and the people I have helped at least, TS3 does NOT seem to be adding itself to the firewall, and no prompt is displayed from windows (FW API broken?), Additionally Router firewalls seem to be doing the same shit!
In the cases I helped (including a personal friend), I added TS both as a program and the ports to the Windows Firewall AND port forwarding in the router (in one case where the guy was remote support shy, he just completely disabled his routers SPI firewall), and that SEEMS to have solved the issue!
Weird, uncalled for, and shouldn't have been a problem, but for whatever reason it DID work!!!
I am not saying its going to work for everyone, but try it out. (UPnP broken in the latest TS3 Betas?)
Additionally in one persons case they had DDO (dungens&dragons online) and the stupid downloader (panda booster something something) was taking up 100% of the bandwidth!!! Both up and down! AND it was installed as a startup item!, crazy just crazy.
Some other things I do is change my DNS both on the router and PC to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1, only do this if your in the US, as they are US DNS servers and will REALLY only benefit them.
People get back to me and let me know how things go.

I know I'm late to the party on this one but for those who are using WIRELESS have you tried using a wired connection? Do you get the same result?

Im using wireless with no issue...
unless you have some screwed settings WiFi shouldn't be an issue
but id venture to have people test this out, maybe something in the router for each persons specific WiFi isnt setup correctly
(also im DMZ'd, dont set this for yourself unless you are a security expert... basically no router level firewall defenses if you do this)
