Server CPU Usage issue
Hello
I'm gonna suggest about server CPU usage for TS3 Server x64.
http://uppic.xgn.in.th/image-6353_4B7ABF41.jpg
That's mine on Intel Xeon X3360(8-12%), I think that's too much for 1 virtual server with about 300 users online. It's really higher than TS2 with 400-500 users online, it only uses 0-3% of my CPU.
Is it related to Voice Codec using in all channel?
How about yours?
Thank you in advance for sharing

TS server does not reencode traffic, so no, codecs used should not effect the server CPU usage.
This could be in case of higher overall bandwidth (As i'm aware, TS3 client sending twice as much packets compared to TS2)

Hi
Not really great for comparing, but still it can prove that something is not right. I run the Linux 32 Bits server in a Debian Lenny machine, powered by a Pentium II Celeron 266 with 128MB. The max i recorded was 3% and it was with 5 users online.
But yea, a small private server vs a big public, and in different architecture, is not much worth.
Regards

ts3 does alot more than ts2. also the percentages in task manager are out of the total used not the total available. for example lets say your computer is running at 50% total processor. in that case ts3 would only be running 10% of that in other words 5%

to compare ts2 to ts3 is not very nice... ts3 does alot of stuff which ts2 does not. (like encrypting all voice/data packets).
we are also trying to improve overall server performance currenlty (like written in the server release thread already).

If you mean it using ~2% of total CPU time, then the answer is simple: It does not work all time at 98%.

Are you talking about the System Idle Process? Thats not really using the CPU. Its a scheduled process of windows that covers the idle time of the CPU to keep it always in a ready state. In other words, ignore it.
