Cant connect using WAN IP
Hi. Have had my server for a few days now. Problem is no one can connect to it using my external IP address (WAN IP) or my internal IP.
I myself cannot connect using my own external IP address. Only way I can connect is if I use my IP4V address (internal IP) or the loopback IP 127.0.01.
Any suggestions on fixing?
I use Vista 32bit. I have forwarded the ports 8767 udp port,9987 UDP, 10011 TCP, 3033 TCP
to both my firewall and my router.
My router model is dynalink rta1025w.
Any help would be appreciated. Clan members are complaining that its not working...

did you forward the ports correctly? To the correct IP?
You will only be able to connect to your own server by your LAN. You can't by using a WAN. So this is fine.Last edited by ZeroTKA; 19-02-2010 at 05:11. Reason: fixed something.

Ok...well if it is fine...then the next problem is that my friends cannot connect using my external IP (the one i get from sites like ipchicken.com). So now that Im fixed I need to get my friends on as well. I have given them both my internal and external IP to try but still they cannot connect.

1. no one will ever be able to connect using your internal ip. you don't need to give it out.
2. you don't need the tcp ports only udp ports: 9987, 30033, and 10011
check to make sure you are forwarding to your computer's ip address because it's probably dynamic.
also please don't grey out any information except maybe a mac address or external ip. the internal ip is important to us and not dangerous to give out

I can easily remove the ports not needed. But not much time right now.
Also the IP i forward to is my internal IP. But to connect to Teamseak, I use 192.168.1.2 (which is my IP4V address).

It works! But another question...because my IP4V address keeps changing (the one i log on with), does that mean i have to re-forward my ports everytime? Co it such a hassle...

Ah Great! That works also! Thanks very much for your help!

Now how do I turn this post to a "solved" question?
