[Solved/todo] Suggestion: copying permissions between server groups
I have a server with a decent number of server groups. I'd like them all to have the same permissions, and doing such is a bit of a pain. It would be helpful if I could easily copy permissions from one server group to another (manually) or by means of a template system where I refer to a master template for the server group to base it's settings off of (And it always utilizes).

Use Forum Search, this is already requested / on todo.
Btw, with the newest BETA you can use an auto-update for your servergroups.

Good to see a copy feature is on the TODO, didn't see it in search, sorry...
Regarding auto-update, I've been trying to get this to work but perhaps I'm just not understanding exactly what it does... I THOUGHT it worked by basically keeping any groups that have the same auto-update number the same in sync with each other? But I've yet to get it to 'auto-update' anything...
ie: I make a new group called widget, I set the auto-update type to '3'. I then change something in the Normal (7) group but it's not reflected in the widget group...am I missing something here? What exactly is auto-updated and from where to where and in what circumstances and should I see it reflected in the target group permission list? *confused*

! new permission PERMISSION_i_group_auto_update_type which enables auto-updating for server groups and channel groups whenever the permission system gets updated. supported values: 0-8 (check permissiondoc.txt for details) note that existing groups on all virtual servers need to be updated manually since we cannot detect the purpose of an existing group automatically
My understanding of this is that when a new server version comes out with updates to the permission system it will attempt to automatically update server groups that have the auto-update enabled with the new permissions.
i.e. the Server Admin group has auto-update enabled and a new permission called i_channel_kick_power is created with the next server version. The SA group will automatically get this permission at a power of 75.

From permissiondoc.txt
Auto-Updating Permissions
-------------------------
Whenever the Permission System gets updated, the server will automatically try to assign the new permissions to your existing groups.
To enable auto-updating, simply add a value for PERMISSION_i_group_auto_update_type of the target group. The following values are
available:
Value 0: The group will be handled like 'Query Guest'
Value 1: The group will be handled like 'Query Admin'
Value 2: The group will be handled like 'Server Admin'
Value 3: The group will be handled like 'Server Normal'
Value 4: The group will be handled like 'Server Guest'
Value 5: The group will be handled like 'Channel Admin'
Value 6: The group will be handled like 'Channel Operator'
Value 7: The group will be handled like 'Channel Voice'
Value 8: The group will be handled like 'Channel Guest'
As you can see, each of these values represents a group from the default permission set of the TeamSpeak 3 Server. For example, if
the Permission System is updated with a new permission for Server Admins, all groups having their PERMISSION_i_group_auto_update_type set to 2 will be updated automatically.
