Restrict a nickname to stop an impersonator
Someone keeps coming into my TeamSpeak as me and convinces users he is me, offending them and causing a whole lot of drama. Is there anyway to restrict my nickname to only myself?

You can't restrict a nickname to yourself atm (this is on todo).
But you can add your nickname into the ban list. Only thoose with permission b_client_ignore_bans can use that name, after you banned it.

For anyone browsing this thread it's in Client as Ignore Bans.
Thanks dante, it works well for now, but I can't wait until the system becomes operational. It should make it so that you can ban name partials, as I can see someone coming in as "PatPeter (No Mic)" and not picked up by the ban list.

Just do not enter PatPeter.* into the ban list.
Enter PatPeter or [Pp][aA][tT][Pp][eE][tT][eE][rR], so it is possible to use PatPeter (Mic) as nickname.Last edited by dante696; 07-08-2012 at 09:27.

Why what would PatPeter.* do?
And do you mean it would be possible for an Impersonator to use (No Mic) or so that I could use it? I just want to stop anyone from using my name in any way shape or form except for me.

PatPeter.* would ban anyone named "PatPeter" and "PatPeterxxxx" or "PatPeter " .
I would suggest to ban it like that .*[Pp][aA][tT][Pp][eE][tT][eR][rR].* , it means the name is forbidden in big and small letters. It also forbids to use a character in fornt and behind the nickname.---------------------------------------------------------

Works perfectly, thanks. Just need to remember to tell it to look for a regular expression first, I didn't and it escaped all my characters.

Is it possible to disallow characters in nicknames or only allow a list of characters ?
Thank you.

But makeing a list of disallowed characters going to be a long task. It would be simpler to make a list of allowed characters like [a-z]|[0-9]

Hmm, I would like to do that for my Nickname WOLF|S|EYE too.
I tried it like this.
Is the syntax wrong because I tried on my 2nd PC to join with my name and all it changed was added a 1 behind the nickname of my Test PC. It didn't forbit it at all. What did I do wrong ?.*[Ww][Oo][Ll][Ff]|[sS]|[Ee][Yy][Ee].*

.*[Ww][Oo][Ll][Ff][\|][sS][\|][Ee][Yy][Ee].*
You missed something
I would add the ban that way *[Ww][Oo0][Ll1][Ff][\|][sS5].*Last edited by dante696; 13-02-2012 at 08:31. Reason: Added some corrections
