Auto join a channel as a permission
Right now you can automatically join a specific channel when connecting to a server, which is specified in your bookmarks.
Is it possible somehow (or could you add it) to specify such a "join on connect" channel in a server group setting?
I could use such a setting for several (more or less devious) scenarios.

more custom options for defalt channel
as a growing clan it would be nice for the server admins to be able to asign each member a specfic channel for when they log into your server. any guest that dont have the required permissions will go to the defalt channel and if any server admins are on they will get a little pop up saying such and such had just entered "name of defalt channel". this will help prevent intruders/enemies loggin onto the server ease dropping where as in channels can be required to have passwords..for some of you ppl that say just put a password on the server..well we got new ppl joinning and giving out the password to access your server in comms of a game..well then any troll with your ip/password can get in...

We won't addd such a permission. You could use a bot , that moves different server groups in different channels on connect.
This is not the way, we want it. We wan't one lobby and the user should decide, where he want's to connect.Last edited by dante696; 26-01-2012 at 15:28.

I think it wrong, a bot would force the groups to join the channel, this is not the idea.
The idea is similar to the default channel.
If you do not want clients to be forced into a channel, because there is a default?
The answer follows the same principle, they will go to that channel, but if they decide to go to connect on another channel, they can too.
In the case of determining the channels that the groups would come in, not to force, but to create a default, and if clients prefer to connect directly to another channel through connection option, this would have higher priority.
Imagine a server for a clan, and each troop with its channel and your group on the server.
But all join in a default channel in a short time, about 300 people at once.
It would be much better if they could join by default in the channels of his troops.
And if they choose to join another channel, they can also set the connection window.Last edited by darkdevildeath; 26-01-2012 at 10:05.

The client always can deciede his own default channel as long he knows the password, the channel is not fulll or he has enough join power.
This won't be changed.---------------------------------------------------------

the client can not set a defalt channel to log into each time when signning into a server...but this option would be an available for server admins only and the tokens assigned to each person remains the same each time the person logs into the server..so the server should be able to associate that token to the group hes assigned to when he logs onto the server unless the channel is removed then it will resort back to the defalt channel

As I said, clients can actually choose the default channel, but that's not what we are talking about.
I'll try to describe another example, and in fact is what happens to my server in times of war.
I own a clan with 672 people.
12 squads of 56 people.
In normal days:
20 different people join every 3 hours in an offtopic channel.
Sometimes 15 people in the channel of his squads, 10 people in the default channel.
That is, some people choose to connect to channel offtopic, some people choose to connect the channel of his squads.
Day of the war:
An average of 180 people logging into the channels of each squad, about 15 people per channel.
Since before connecting, there is no way of knowing how many people are in the channel.
An average of 370 people logging on channel offtopic, but this has a limit of 30 people.
They are then sent to the server default channel.
SERVER'S DEFAULT CHANNEL: 460 PEOPLE IN THE CHANNEL.
Does anyone have any idea what it would be a channel?
The result: chaos, disconnections, lag in the game and silence the channels.
Simulating request:
An average of 180 people logging into the channels of each squad, about 15 people per channel.
An average of 370 people logging on channel offtopic, but this has a limit of 30 people.
They are then sent to the default channel defined in your SERVER GROUP.
SERVER'S DEFAULT CHANNEL: average of 100 people in the channel.
Channel troops: on average 45 people per channel.
Result: order, more stable connections and conversations that can now become more organized.
Sorry for the mistakes, my english is not very good.

Guests joining in different default channel
Hello,
I got a very basic TS server running. I want to have the Guest server group connecting to a specific default channel. Every other server group should connect directly to a different default channel. How do I do that ?
Thanks,
Marcos

@Jordi unrelated to the Question (yet again)
@MarcosKhan: It's not possible to force anyone to join a specific Channel!
It is always the Clients choice which channel they join, if they don't care (aka don't specify any channel) they will join whatever the server's default is.

Thanks for your reply.
This means I'm stuck then with giving the Guest server group an inadequate join permission to join other channels + permanent default channel setup I guess ?
My intent :
Let guests login to a 'welcome room', in which they will stay untill they are given permission by other members to advance.
Let all the other server groups directly login to a 'main lobby' without them having to select a default channel themselves.
But I guess your answer covers that, thanks again.

Yeah, that would be how to do it. E.G. set the normal group to have a join power of 10 and all the member channels to have a needed JP of 10. Give guests a JP of 0.

Automatic switch GUEST group to a different channel on log in
Hello all experts.
I want to be able to switch all those who belong to the GUEST group to a different channel called "Lounge" as soon as they get on our TS server.
I know that client side this can be done but is there any way to set it server-side...???
I just don't want a bunch of Guests sitting in the MAIN channel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
--d.
