TS3 accessing primary soundcard even if set to using secondary only

    Hi,

TS3 is using the standard audio-output even if its configured to use the secondary soundcard installed. On my Notebook TS3 is configured to use the onboard soundcard for playback and record. But if the audigy notebook is installed and windows takes it as the primary card, TS3 uses the audigy to play its sounds and messages. The problem is, it uses the audigys directsound-interface making this card only barely usable. On bitmatched playback the audigy is not useable anymore because TS3 uses its ressources. (Audigy effect panel is turned off wich means its used via directsound and is actually in gaming mode)

If TS3 is configured to use a specified soundcard as its playback device, TS3 doesnt have to use the primary card for its messages. This should be fixed soon.

This not only happens on my Notebook, but on my desktop as well. (Notebook: XP; Desktop Win7) Please fix this

    Keep up your good work!

I have something to add: TS3 seems to use many CPU-Ressources. On my older Notebook (Pentium M 1,7Ghz) it uses up to 24% CPU cycles (Speedstep is enabled, so its actually a bit lower) In general it uses 4 to 8% with spikes reaching to like is said, 24% and more. Maybe there is something to optimize?

This whole thing sounds a bit weired, but it sounds like you are using the Text-to-Speech feature.
These sounds are comming from windows directly and will be send to your primary soundcard. The client sends the command to Windows and Windwos plays these sounds.

Just disbale this feature and use the normal Soundpack under Settings > Options > Notification > Sound Pack:

The client can't change the audio device, while you are conencted to a server.

Jepp, i have got the Text to Speach feature enabled. (I know that the Windows text to Speech feature is used, but it cannot explain whats going on ^^ ) But the audigy is accessed by TS3 even its not configured to do so. Look at the following pictures:

    http://www.fffc-mad.de/TS31png
Audio Settings (Audigy is the prefered device...)

    http://www.fffc-mad.de/TS32png
Audio Console (Audigy is working in normal mode, like it should be if no Directsound-Application is running)

Tamspeak 3 audio output settings (Set to onboard soundcard)

    http://www.fffc-mad.de/TS34png
    Teamspeak3 recording settings

As you can see, the audioconsole shows, that Directsound is in use, what means, no EAX or HW-Acceleration is allowed for other programs than TS3 while im connected to a server.

Here you can see that your suggestion wont work Even if i turn off TS3 messages, it will hog the audigys HW-acceleration abilitys.

    Greetings, Mario Rhein

I testet if TS3 would hog the audigy even if its not the prefered audio device in windows. An it does not, the audigy is working like it should.

So TS3 is accessing the primary soundcard regardless whats configured in the options.

    To add:

you should really check if TS3 only uses the API/ interface whats set up in its options. If its set to windows audio, it doenst have to use Directsound in any way. On X-FI and Audigy cards this would lead to serious problems, if direct sound is used by TS3. Games wouldnt have access to hardware-acceleration cababiltys anymore.

On Win Vista and Windows 7, theres only Asio or Windows audio, so the option tab shouldnt show directsound as an option whatssoever.

Maybe TS3 should be opt for OpenAL.

    I think same things.
so, TeamSpeak3 try to open primary soundcard.
If the primary soundcard is opened as exclusive mode, TeamSpeak3 always failed to open selected sound device.
even if I selected secondary sound device as playback device and capture device ...

    Update:
The sound always plays on the selected soundcard in my profile. It does not matter if that device is not my default playback device on windows and it does also not matter if i enable exclusive mode for this or other devices only.
