[Solved] TS3 Running as Service on W2008
I can't get this to work for some reason.
I used Instsrv and Srvany as to create the service as described in this MS article; the Srvany service starts okay but the application does not start.
I don't think it's an issue with my W2008 setup as I have TS2 set up the same way and running perfectly. Also, I have no problem connecting when I start ts3server_win64.exe manually or even when I copy and paste into the 'Run' box the path used for the application by Srvany.
I'm wondering if there are any known issues here as I can't find any reference anywhere on the TS site to running TS3 as a service.

Hello
Since beta 26 the server can start like a services.
When you double click on exe file, you must have an icon in your task bar, right ?
Just add a line to start your server with windows.

How/where do I add that line?
(Double clicking the icon does nothing.)

There is no function, to run ts a service.
He meaned you have the choice to run the server with an tray icon or with the console window.
Code:+ windows uses now a trayicon, use commandline parameter "open_win_console=1" if you want to open an console window

I'm not sure what you mean by stain planned but startup folder is no good to me, that requires login; TS is running on a VPS and I want it to start automatically on reboot whether I'm logged in or not.
The solution to this on TS2 was to use the MS applications Instsrv and Srvany as mentioned in my opening post, I can't figure out why that does not work on TS3, those applications are supposed to create a service with any executable.
Thanks for help both of you, by the way, I appreciate it.

Thank you, that thread led me to RunAsSvc which is a small freeware application to create a Windows service. It is unbelievably simple to use and and I now have TS3 running as a service
