Wierd setup, wierder problem (involves relaying cell phones)
I have a bit of an echo problem. Here's my set-up:
Cell phone > 3/32" stereo to 1/8" stereo size changer > 1/8" stereo to 2 - 1/8" mono splitter > 2 - 6' long 1/8" mono cables going into the speaker and mic inputs
I'm basically using it as a relay point. I've got a teammate who doesn't have BroadBand, so he can't play online with his PS2 and be on his PC for TS at the same time. He calls me on my cell phone, I hook my phone up to the computer, and we can all talk. (I'm using TS on my other PC)
Anyway, we'll have the channel all set up and ready to go, everything will sound fine. As soon as I plug the phone into the computer to start the relaying, it starts echoing horribly. I've tried playing with the voice activation level, the volume settings (I've gotta turn the volume almost all the way down for it to be at a reasonable level over the phone), the codec, and every other setting I can think of. The best I've been able to do is to mute the microphone on my computer so that he can hear us but not talk back. I'd like to be able to have 2-way communication, but the echo is so bad that we can't stand to listen to him.
Anybody have any clue whatsoever as to how to fix this?
