tethering?
Maybe it has been answered already but I am asking again.
Yeah, yeah, well, I am not use to forums and posting on technical stuff, but, my friend and I were using TS2.. worked wonderfull (loved it) but now we switch to TS3 and ... hmmm.. the question is - Wy does the TETHERING is not working ? -
Let me explain, I am trying to tether with my HTC with HSPA/EV-DO and it can't conect, it was working with the older version. I thaught it would work even better with the new version but .. ''BUZZ'' .. Guess again. Can someone tell me how to make it work. FYI - I am a user. not sever.. but If it's a server configuration I could give the info to the server admin.
Thanx for your time and patience.
Regards,

Not sure how EV-DO has nothing to do with 3G when that is what I see it advertised as. 3G is a blanket term that covers many technologies. Any way. I've even tethered without the 3G (HSDPA or HSUPA) connection on the older network called edge and it still works, though there is more delay and normally increased packet lose with the codec/quality are set higher.
But in the end, team speak would not be the part causing the problem if you can't get it to on that tethering setup. As long as you can get a proper network connection that is not filtering any packets it should work.

I have turned off firewalls. I can go on any website, I can brows anywhere, download, streaming, skype etc... but it's just Teamspeak that doesn't conect to any server, I don't get it...I get this:
<12:35:00> Trying to resolve hostname voice.teamspeak.com
<12:35:07> Trying to connect to server on voice.teamspeak.com:9987
<12:35:13> Failed to connect to server
grrrrrrrrr. I can get the server list from teamspeak but it can't conect to any server. When I use the usual wireless it works and I can connect. If it's a packets filtering or something like that, is there a way to configure it ? Like I said, everything is off.. firewalls etc.. but all the internet works perfecly except Teamspeak .. grrrrrrrr. FYI I am using PDAnet for tethering.
Can someone tell me what do to.
Regards
Krad.

I'm not sure, but are any of the other services you mention using UDP? Maybe your provider allows TCP traffic but not UDP. I would say try using other UDP services and see what you get.
If it is a UDP block I heard a rumor that TCP support may be added after TS3 gets a final release.

SOLVED IT !! .. For those who are using PDAnet, 2.00 ..For some Cell Phones Not all of Them (of course) DON'T activate the PROXY Mode, apparently it slows down the conection and the server doesn't get a responce quick enough so you won't conect -

TS3 fails to connect with cell phone tethering.
Hello,
I recently installed an app called Easy Tether onto my Android LGAlly cell phone model number VS-740 to connect to the internet via my cell phone internet.
TS3 does not connect to servers nor can I update it. TS3 is installed on my Windows XPHome desktop and worked fine before I lost DSL service.
Could someone please explain why TS3 won't work with the mobile as a modem? And is there a solution to make it work?
Thanks in advance for any help.

TS3 can work while using a mobile phone as tethered internet, but it depends on the service you have. You didn't mention who your provider is, but it is possible the block some types of traffic based on what mobile broadband plan you have. IE: if you pay for a phone only plan they may block some port/protocol types. I have been able to tether with the AT&T network using my old Cingular log in credentials.

Thanks for the reply Screech.
My carrier is Verizon with the unlimited(supposedly)internet. Of course they rather the customer pay them yet again($35 per month on top of the $35 per month normal internet fee) to simply use the mobile on a computer or laptop so I have no doubt they make it difficult to go around them. I was hoping to hear from someone who has already done this successfully with the same phone/carrier. It may just be a setting I'm not aware of. I really don't want to"root" the phone if I don't have to since it's new and rooting would most likely void the warranty.
Does TS3 work with your AT&T configuration? Are you using it with a desktop like I am?
Thanks again for the reply.Last edited by edkjr; 14-02-2011 at 17:27.

I've use it with my phone connected by USB to my desktop running windows 7 pro 64bit and though bluetooth and USB to my laptop running windows 7 ult 32bit. I'm actually an old Cingular customer that got rolled into AT&T, but I still use my Cingular settings in my DUN profile. My current phone is the Sony Ericsson Aino (U10a), almost a smartphone but not classified as one (though newer SE phones with the same OS are). I like it because it is not a smartphone and I get by with unlimited internet for only $10/month.
If you get on the public TS3 server several of the regulars in the English Talk channels can confirm that I've been riding around in my wife's car on TS. They think I'm nuts, so does my wife.

I installed PDAnet on my computer earlier today but for some reason it wouldn't install on my phone. I had to go to work but installed it on my phone while on break, came home and got it working. TS3 now works.
Thanks guys for the help and for the idea for PDAnet.
I would like to add that on my LGAlly Android I didn't have to change any settings. It configured itself and worked instantly once I reinstalled it to my computer after installing it on my phone.
I just hope this helps someone else in the future.
