Can't use TS3 unless TS2 is running

A friend of mine has a really weird problem, which we haven't been able to solve. We've spent many nights trying al sorts of "fixes".

His machine is running XP (32) with a SB Live card in it. TS2 runs well, and he is able to set and use CTRL as PTT, and transmit using that key. If he runs TS3, he is able to set CTRL as PTT, but when he is connected to a server and uses CTRL as PTT his lights never turns light blue to indicate he is transmitting. After many trial and error runs, we found out he NEEDS to start TS2 first, and then start TS3. When he starts TS3 AFTER TS2 he is able to transmit. But only if he follows that order.

If he starts TS2 after he started TS3 -> no transmit
TS3 alone -> no transmit



I've been using TS2 and 3 for a long time, and have never ever seen anything like it.

For some unkown reason TS3 (in his case) needs TS2 to work.

Does anyone have any ideas we can try? His sounds settings are correct, since TS2 works fine with those settings. The same settings don't work in TS3...
