Actually Sony gave the option to not update beyond firmware 3.15, so it is not a hack.

Well, in the update notes they worded it as an option, you have the option update and loss OtherOS but retain support and access for new games and PlayStation Network. Or, if you don't update the opposite. They made it very clear that if you want to retain OtherOS to not update, so that is a "supported" option.
Well, I also think that yellowdog linux runs on PowerPC Mac hardware, so that would be more hardware that is still "supported". I'll have a PowerPC Mac in March, I may get an extra hard drive for it and test that idea.
Side note: I compiled my plugin on the PS3 without a problem.

Teamspeak 3 Client on PS3?
Hello forum,
I was searching for a teamspeak client for the playstation 3, and I came accross this old post:
This was responded to by a dev with the following comment:
This was posted in the Teamspeak 2 section, and I think the responds was about the upcoming Teamspeak 3 version.
I thought it would be best to ask this question again in the Teamspeak 3 section.
I was wondering if this is still one of the options and if it is something you guys plan to work on?
Even if you can only run TS3 outside of the game would be a good step in the direction.
(You meet up with a bunch of people in TS3 before you start a game together or something, or afterwards)
Beneficial for a multi gaming platform organisation I would imagine.
I was really looking for this so I could keep in contact with other people in my multiple gaming community who are playing on PC games.
Is the PS3 capable of running 2 apps (music and gaming) at the same time?
Where this could be helpfull for TS3 and gaming at the same time.
Especially since Dust 514 is coming out next year, which is a hybrid between EVE Online (an MMO on the PC) with FPS (exclusive for the PS3). Being able to communicate with Teamspeak between those two platforms would make the hybrid experience that much better I'd reckon.
Is there any possibility that TS3 would make a client available for PS3 in the future? (Native PS3 firmware instead of Linux build?)
I really hope so.
PS:
About the whole hybrid between PC and PS3 with Dust 514, Sony might be willing to outsource the voice to Teamspeak if you guys play it right? It would be a win-win situation.Last edited by Crytiqal; 26-07-2011 at 00:55.

So a moderator moved my thread and merged it with this old one.
Could we please have a reply by a dev to either confirm or deny if this is something on the to-do list still?

Please don't send me private support questions.
They belong into the forum and maybe other users have these questions/problems too.

Ok, I think I misread the notice that TS3 is out of BETA, but it's not final yet. It's Release Candidate 2 atm.
Still, I know a LOT of people on a PS3 who are dying for a voice application on the PS3 that works cross-game.
Having it cross-platform would be even better.
I think Sony would be very willing to accept TS3 on their platform for it gives the PS3 a good name AND helps to spread TS3.
Having Teamspeak on the PS3 is really something Sony could help in advertisement (It only does EVERYTHING).
It also could help gaming communitys on the PC expand to include PS3, since the communication between the two platforms would be better.
Hopefully you guys will get on to this and expand to different platforms aside the PC's. (Windows/Linux/Max/OpenBSD are all computers).
Having TS3 on Android (which was on the TODO list as I see it?) is already a good way to expand TS3 in a big way.
Having TS3 on the PS3 would conquer that gaming market by storm.
Thanks for your time reading this.
Greetings,
Crytiqal

PS3 a new app idea?
Those here who own a playstation know where im going here. The Xbox has a party chat where all your friends can hang out and bs wile playing other games. The playstation doesnt. It has a chat but you cant play wile in it and the ingame chats are only if your all in the same game some cases on the same team. Not to mention single player games your flying solo with no one to talk to. Playstation owners have flooded the playstation forum forever trying to get playstation to implement a party chat but there are to many players opposed to the idea. With Teamspeak someone in the group would have to rent a ts3 server or host one himself for everyone to join. I have a ts3 server that ive rented since two years before ts3 and converted when ts3 came out. My friends all hang out on it when were playing pc games but they and i leave when we play on the ps3. Most of us dont have our pcs right next to our ps3's.
I dont know if its possible to make an app for the ps3 but if it is and was available in the playstation store id buy it and i know my friends would too. I believe this would generate revenue for you selling the app on the ps3 store. Those renting servers would see an increase in server rentals as well. Everyone wins those who dont want a party chat because they dont want a bunch of party invites every time they log on wont have to worry about it. And those of us who want to chat with our friends wile on the pc or ps3 can get our moneys worth out of our server rental. I hate paying for my server when a new ps3 exclusive game comes out and it sits empty for weeks cause everyone is playing on the ps3. My pc is getting old and is starting to fall behind on the new games so im gonna have to buy more of them for my ps3 instead which means more time away from ts and more money wasted on a rental.
If this is possible please help.

Well i see how important my thread was since it was moved to a thread that died a year ago and was started 5 years ago. can a dev at least tell me why you can make an app for a stupid phone but cant make something to work on the ps3. You guys are in the business of making money right why not contact Sony and make a deal.
Before you say it ill let you know i dont have a cell phone and refuse to own one. They are just a marketing scam thats totally legal. So getting your app for a phone is no option for me. Guess ill just have to buy a craptop just for ts3.
