Solved NEW Admins Group that has most powers of SA but with a couple of differences

    Hello all.

I am a noob in most things TS so please be gentle with me.

I rent a TS server from gameservers.com for my clan.

I want to move ALL my Server Admins from the SA group to a new group so that I am the only SA on my TS server.

This new group, called CLAN ADMINS, should have pretty much all the powers of the regular SA group except:

1.) They cannot assign anyone else or themselves to be a CLAN ADMIN or a SA.

2.) They cannot assign anyone else or themselves to be a Channel Admin (CA).

3.) They cannot create or delete rooms.

I have tried to mess with the Permission settings before but had messed them up pretty bad and had to re-install the TS server again.

So, can someone please tell me what permissions and what values I need to change to make the above happen??

I will be eternally indebted to you.

You can solve your problems , but i have to complain about point 2.

1 & 2. Set this permission i_group_needed_member_add_power of 75 to your Clan Admins and set their i_group_member_add_power to 49

This setting dissalows, that they can set another user as Server Admin and Channel Admin

    - i_group_needed_member_remove_power should be 75 and their i_group_member_remove_power also should be 49 or they can remove SA and Channel Admins.

This dissalows to remove Server Admins, Clan Admins and Channel Admins

-Set the i_group_member_remove_power to 50 and they can remove Channel Admins, but not Server Admin and Clan Admins.

Why do you wan't, that they can not assign the channel Admins?

    3. Forbidd following permission and set the skip flag!
    Code:
    b_channel_create_child
    b_channel_create_permanent
    b_channel_create_semi_permanent
    b_channel_create_temporary
Now they can't create Sub-channels and all other channels.

    Thanx for your response dante696.

We really don't have the need for any channel admins so I figured I would remove that too. No other special reason really.

Could you please tell me where I should make these changes that you talked about...???

I know that I have to go to Permissions > Server Groups

Then I see for Server Admins, these: Global, Virual Server, Channel, Group, Client, File Transfer

There are other sub-headings under each of them.

I am so confused as to which ones I have to go under to do 1, 2, and 3 from above as per your instructions.

    Can you please help??

    Thanx in advance,

    --d.

You have to activate the Advanced-permission-system.
These are advanced settings and you can use the search field, to fidn the permissions.

    OK, understood.

But first, when I create this new group called Clan Admin which of the three options in the pop-up box do I choose: Regular Group or Template Group or Server Query Group...??

I want this new Clan Admin group to have ALL the powers of the regular SA group EXCEPT the three points above.

    Thanx again.

Right-click your Server Admin and choose "copy".
Now choose your name for this group and this needs to be a new regular group.

    Ahhh..got it. Thanx.

Follow up question: When I do this: set their i_group_member_add_power to 49

I see a value of 75 in both the Value and Grant columns.

Do I need to change the value to 49 in BOTH these columns or just one of them...?? Not sure about the difference.

    Oh i forgott that.
Grant means, they can Assign the target permission. You should remove the Grant value for target permissions or else or they are able to change them. This allows them to change other permissions, but not the permission without grant

or Set their i_permission_modify_power to 74 and change the grant valuve everywhere to 74, when they are allowed to change this permission and leave the rest at 75.

OR remove their i_permission_modify_power and i_client_permission_modify_power and they can not change any permissions. They can not change icons either >> Because this is also a permission.

    It gets complicated
We do not allow our co admins, to change any permission at all, so we removed all grant values and their i_client_permission_modify_power and changed their i_permission_modify_power to 50

You better make a backup of your server before running into trouble

    Oh yes...

I always test it out on a test server, before rolling it out to the production one.

    Thanx again.

    Hello dante696.

I have followed all your instructions and all of them are working exactly like I want them except for one thing.

Let me tell you what I have done so far:

Created a new group called Clan Admins.

For this new group, I have set:
    1.) i_group_needed_member_add_power to 75
    2.) i_group_member_add_power to 49
    3.) i_group_needed_member_remove_power to 75
    4.) i_group_member_remove_power to 49

I have UNCHECKED the "Value" column and CHECKED the "Skip" column for these:
    1.) b_channel_create_child
    2.) b_channel_create_permanent
    3.) b_channel_create_semi_permanent
    4.) b_channel_create_temporary

I have set the value of GRANT to ZERO for ALL THE ABOVE.

The only thing that is not working is that this new group can still create channels and sub-channels.

Even though the "Permanent" option is greyed out when they try to create a channel/sub-channel, they can still create "Temporary" and "Semi-Permanent" channels/sub-channels.

Any idea what I need to do so that this group cannot create any type of channel/sub-channel...??

    Thanx a million.

this new group can still create channels and sub-channels.
Verify if the people from this New_Group, are still in the Old_Group
Right click on one user, ... Set Server Group > deselect the old group

Members of this new group, Clan Admins, belong to this group and the group called "Normal" only.

    Thanx.

I imagine you've created the new group by copying it from another group already created, and changing some permissions.
If the new group has all necessary permissions, you must remove from the Normal group, all users who are in the new group.
