    Debian Squeeze Capture device problems

Hello. Sorry about this, but I've been having some trouble with the teamspeak 3 client after I switched from Ubuntu (Oneiric Ocelot) to Debian (Squeeze). First of all, I'm not very good at how the GNU/Linux systems work, I know how to do most stuff, but then there's the stuff that are just arcane, where I'm searching around the internet for a posible fix until I find one or give up and go to a support forum like this.

I was looking at the other threads in this forum, and some of them looks a bit like my problem, but I guess I just want to get things confirmed by making my own thread rather than just going "Oh I'm having this problem as well."

The problem as you might already guess has to do with PulseAudio and ALSA. When I have the capture mode set to either automatically use best mode or PulseAudio, the application crashes once I'm able to connect to the server:

And when I have it set to ALSA the capture device does not respond at all, actually the capture device does not work in either mode, but with it set to ALSA I can atleast connect to the server and hear what the others are saying, I'll just quote the log:

The DEBUG and WARNING lines at the end is testing the capture device with capture mode set to ALSA.

For your information Playback Mode is set to PulseAudio. When Playback mode is set to ALSA it gives these lines:

    AA ts3.alsa.dummy.playbackdefault 5
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
    2012-04-17 21:44:24.486757|ERROR |ALSA | | snd_pcm_open: Device or resource busy
    2012-04-17 21:44:24.487189|ERROR |SoundBckndIntf| | /home/bror/Downloads/TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86/soundbackends/libalsa_linux_x86.so error: ALSA
I have all the same packages as I had on Ubuntu, so the fact that it does not work makes me really frustrated.

    Thanks for taking your time.
    Regards

Exclamation No audio interface on Debian Lenny _ error output...

TS3 is not in debian repos for some reason so I downloaded the linux_x86.run file. Ran it as root to discover that it just decompresses into a folder. ok, so i have a root owned folder on my desktop. I run the runscript and TS starts properly, buy cannot access any audio interfaces. Does this output explain why? I have sound when I play movies in VLC. TS cannot access sound OUTPUT or INPUT.

    Thanks in advance..
    -eric

    Code:
    eric@debian:~/Desktop/TeamSpeak3-Client-linux_x86$ ./ts3client_runscript.sh

I am guessing this happens because pulseaudio already opened the alsa device.

ericcmi, what sound system are you using? alsa? or oss?
Is the pulseaudio server running? (not absolutely needed if you have alsa)

Brosjan, does your mic work in any sound application?
