Audio severely messed up after updating to 3.0.6

OS is Windows XP SP2, sound card is sound blaster 5.1. Before updating I experienced no problems whatsoever with audio, but after updating, everything (both notifications e.g "channel switched", "user entered your channel" etc AND people talking) sounds tinny and severely messed up. Oddly when I tried to record this happening using TS3's recording feature and then listened to the recording everything sounded normal (http://www.filedropper.com/ts3recording). The way things actually sound is in this recording (http://www.filedropper.com/1_53)

Oops, sorry for not mentioning that. Yes I was running 3.0.5 before. I'd done updates a few times before without any problems. I reinstalled 3.0.5 and everything is back to normal.

Uhhh....I'm not really good with computers so I might not have fully understood what you'd like me to give you. When I reinstalled 3.0.5 I basically installed it into the same directory. In both the original and this installation I chose to have all the user data saved in Documents and settings\[my user name]. I poked around a bit in that folder and found a TS3 folder with three folders (cache, chats, logs). I checked the one named logs and found a bunch of txt files named by dates. There are four txt files that have today's date, which I've uploaded:

Why you just don't update to the latest client and show this log from Tools > Client Log
You could downgrade again after this

This bug occurs when you use the direct sound backend (always in win xp) and your soundcard is not configured with 2 channels (say mono or surround sound). A temporary work around is to set your soundcard to stereo. The next ts3 release will have this fixed.

For the record.. the 3 is the mask.. in this case it means "front left" and "front right" speaker
