CPU usage 100% (5-10 seconds) every 5-10 minutes (sometimes crashes)

Title says it all... really annoying.
Doesn't matter how many users or which codec. Happens even with zero users...
Between those cpu peeks, everything works like a charm with 0.7-1.5% CPU usage!

    FYI:
Logfile hast no warnings or errors
    Version 3.0.5
    SQLite
    Ubuntu vServer with 1gb RAM

Is there a "job" the server has to execute every x minutes?

    best regards

Could it be, that there is another script running, when it is exactly after these minutes?
    Did it work before?

One funny thing about VMs is that they share the hardware ressources, for example the CPU. Depending on how the VM works it might very well be that some other VM on the same machine is running a high CPU taks every few seconds, leaving less CPU to the other VMs in this time. This can lead to system tools (that know nothing about the virtualisation) like top to show a higher percentage of CPU use for all tasks, even though they are not using more CPU, only there is less CPU to go around...

When you have 1 GHz available, then a process that uses 10M CPU cycles per second is using 1% of CPU
When you only have 10 MHz available, then the same process still using 10 M CPU cycles per second uses 100% of CPU...
