Unhappy Mic Works in Test, But Not During Actual Use

    Greetings,

I've been trying to get my "mic" to work with TeamSpeak. It's the mic built into the headphones that came with my Nokia phone.

The weird thing is that the mic works normally when I'm doing the test from the TeamSpeak options menu using any method - push to talk, voice, or continuous. The bar moves showing that it's picking up my voice.

The problem is that once I save the settings, enable that profile and go back into the server or channel, it doesn't work. Nobody can hear me. I can be yelling into the mic and all everybody gets is my little icon lighting up with no sound.

Is there a solution for this? It seems incredibly odd that it would work in the test, but not during real use.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatility with the earbuds/mic plugged into the flexijack.

    (EDIT) The channel isn't moderated.

Are you sure, that the correct device and capture profile is selected, for your server?

This thread helps, to set the correct profile.

Yes, I'm sure that I have the correct profile and device selected.

As for the bookmarks, the client asks me which profiles I want to use when I connect to the server. Do I need to make a bookmark too?

Does the client show this, when you connect to a server?

The OK button, sets the new device, that is shown there and Setup allows you to change the device and you have to use the apply button at the end of this setup.

    - Can you show me a screenshot of your capture settings and this popup?
    - What does you client log say? Maybe there is an error.
    - Do you use client 3.0.6 ?

That dialog does not come up. Connecting to the server happens normally with no errors.

Here is a screenshot of my current capture settings.

You use Push-to-Talk on the server?
Could it be, that the target hotkey profile is not active? you can test it, when you press "end" and the lamp does no light up.
Please open your bookmark list and select the server. Now press more and check the hotkey profile.

Or try to use continous transmission instead PTT for testing.

The hotkey profile is active. When I press the hotkey, the blue icon lights up. I just checked and the hotkey profile is set to Default in the bookmark and the server select screen, and when going in to the options the push to text hotkey has (Default) after it.

As for a different transmission method, the admin for the server I'm on would prefer that we not use voice activation or continuous transmission, but the one time I tested either, the same issue occurred. Nobody could hear anything that I was saying.

I ran a little test in Windows Sound Recorder and I have to practically yell into the mic to get it to pick up anything, which is odd considering that when I'm in TeamSpeak (or the test dialog rather), just moving the mic causes the green bar to max out.

Could it be that the TeamSpeak test dialog is wrong and that what's really going on is that for some reason, my mic just isn't picking up my voice? I have the mic DB+20 boot set in the Windows 7 control panel.

I wonder why the test does work and the normal conversation does not work.
The problem is not the client itself, when the windows recorder does the same.

    Have you tried another mircophone?

Unfortunately, this is the only microphone I have. The soonest I'll be able to get a different one is the first of the month, but I will try that out as soon as it becomes an option.

I'll post an update once I get the new mic to let you guys know if this issue persist. Thank you for all the help so far (and for being patient!).
