I am interested, I have ftp space with my hosted server I got yesterday and am wondering what could be really useful things that I could put up on there for people?

So, that made me wonder what do YOU share on your server?

My team uses it for everything from a software repository to a media sharing function. It also houses all of our rules, regulations, and other documentation.

EDIT: I feel I must warn you that, while it seems harmless to distribute files that carry a copyright, it is very illegal and could get you in a good amount of trouble. Not worth it IMO.
