SDK 3.0.1 and IPv6
Hi,
using the latest TS3 SDK 3.0.1, it is possible to successfully pass an IPv6 address to ts3server_createVirtualServer, so that the virtual server is indeed listening on the IPv6 address.
However, if you try to pass the very same IPv6 address to ts3client_startConnection in order to connect to the server, the clientlib does not recognize the IPv6 address. Instead, it assumes the string which has been passed is a hostname, and tries to resolve it. Which fails, of course.
Is this expected behavior with SDK 3.0.1? And if so, are there any plans and timeline to fully support IPv6 with the TS3 SDK? Or is this unexpected behavior, i.e. IPv6 is supposed to work quite nicely already..?
Thanks!

Hi,
as of now we currently do not have any support for IPv6 in TS3. If IPv6 addresses work in any place it is purely accidental. Adding IPv6 support has been on our TODO for a long time, but always with low priority since there didn't seem to be many people using it (yet).

Thanks for your reply, Peter!
The usage of IPv6 will drastically increase once the ISPs start to migrate to IPv6 for their public connections. And that's my major concern right now, as I can not plan when my ISP will do the switch. It's on his schedule for this year for sure, and I just want to be prepared when it happens.
We're currently preparing all our network services to be IPv6 capable, so that a seamless transition is possible for our users when the time comes...
Cheers,
Dunc.

Hi,
I'd like to add my voice for IPv6 support.
I host a bunch of small ts servers for gaming communities.
However due to the nature of the slow roll out and the limitation on the number of ISPs supporting it..
Is there a possibility that the same virtual server would be able to have both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses to allow for a transitional period?
Is there a specific thread for people calling for IPv6 that I missed?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there....
IPv6 support is very important for us! We _need_ it an we all are waiting for it.
And yes, we have native IPv6 connections...
So long!

Hello,
we are waiting for the IPv6 Support too.
The most providers and server providers are supporting and giving us IPv6.
I tried to connect to a AAAA-Domain, but TS3 cant resolve it.
Hope to see this as soon as possible! Please add it higher to your todo list.
Thank you.
