Teamspeak major memory leak problem
Hi Guys, this is my first time posting in these forums. I searched the forums, and internet and didn't get an answer to this so I thought I would post here.
I don't know what it is, but it seems that TeamSpeak has a major memory leak problem. I have included a picture.
I don't have any plugins installed. I installed it, connected it to a server, and after an hour or so I got this. I was also playing a game while I was talking called StarTrek Online. There is a huge memory leak because from me taking the picture, and posting it, it has raised about 100k memory usage. I could see Teamspeak using 50k memory, but 900k? That is a huge problem. Especially for people who only have a couple gigs of RAM. Fortunately I have 4 gigs, so I can handle it. But after awhile I would probably have to restart Teamspeak when my game is taking up 620k. I mean, why is Teamspeak using more memory then my game! That is crazy! I even ran Iobit's Game Booster before I started my game and Teamspeak. So please look into this.
Oh, I am using Windows 7.

How many Servers have you been connected to? How busy is each of these Servers?
My TS3 has been running for a day now, been connected to two idle Servers all the time and a couple not so busy Servers in between. Using 120Meg now, which I consider normal / ok, have had it easily use 250 or 300Meg when connected to more busy Servers with lots of clients connecting / disconnecting, shitloads of channels being created and deleted and stuff, which I am not too concerned about but yeah almost 1G seems a bit excessive (unless you are connected to like 10 busy servers or so).

also, make sure that you turn down your chat history logs, and also do not try to load a huge amount of chat log, it'll also eats up quite a bit of memory

Please upload the log file of your client. We need the file, when your client did use that much memory.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't replied. I have been busy. When the memory was that high, I was connected to a server that had probably 7 people in the entire server, and nobody was using the chat function.
Where is the log file located?
Thanks.
Edit: I think CCleaner deleted the log file when I ran it last
. If I am using Teamspeak and it climbs and uses so much memory, I will make sure to save the log file.

Log can be found in Tools -> Client Log
The actual File is located in the TS3 Config directory which depends on which Option you chose when installing TeamSpeak.
Its either in %AppData%\TS3Client\logs or in <TS3InstallDir>\config\logs

For at least the last 2-3 version of TeamSpeak I've had a terrible memory leak.
I thought maybe this was due to me upgrading the installation over quite a long time which had caused a problem somewhere. But now I got a fresh harddrive, installed Win7-64 and the TeamSpeak 64-bit client.
Within running TS as a server admin for 24h, Teamspeak was back to complaining about memory usage.
When I shut it down, it was using well over 1gb of memory.
The first time I discovered this months ago, it was due to my computer running out of memory and applications crashing due to TS eating up all available memory. I have 8gb and TS3 uses about 30-40mb on start, so this should not really be the case.
I restarted TS3 yesterday and now the latest info message from the client log:
2013-01-08 15:26:31 Info Memory usage: 158.95 MiB
What further information do you need to get to the root of this?
I'm connected to a single server. 5-10 users. No creating deleting of channels or modifying of settings in any way.
Within a day or so TS is using 150mb and it will keep climbing to 1GB and above if I don't restart it.
Win7-64, 64-bit TS3, all freshly installed a week ago.
Isn't this a clear memory leak?Last edited by Chris; 16-01-2013 at 13:01.

I'll leave my client running then and post a log once the memory usage goes above 1GB
Where should it be uploaded though? I'd rather not just attach it to the post as it exposes private IP's etc.
