Microphone Disabled??? help please
Hi All, My name's John and every Thursday night we meet with a group on Team Speak.
The past couple weeks we have been unable to participate with the group because Both of our computers keep giving us this same message once we are connected, ( Microphone Disabled ). and the mic icon has a circle with a line through it.
We tried using the set-up wizard over and over again, using different hot keys, but nothing seems to work. Everything was working just fine a few weeks ago. The mics are Not muted, and we even removed Team Speak from both computers and re-installed again, That didn't help. funny thing is, I am having no problem when I use the Lap-top?
I looked into setting-options and all looked fine. I've tried everything I can think to do, with No success so far! Could someone please give me an idea what to do next?
Thank you in advance for any info/help
John

When connected make sure that a Capture Profile is checked in Self -> Capture Profile.
Also check if the "Mic with Checkmark" Button in the Toolbar (next to the away button by default) is gray and not green... if the Checkmark is green click it.
Still not working?
Goto Settings -> Options -> Capture -> Capture Device: Make sure your Microphone is listed in the Dropdown and select it. Then Hit Ok.
Not listed? Make sure Windows knows about the Microphone (Right click speaker icon in Systray -> recording devices)

Ok, I went through the steps you listed, 1. Capture Profile is checked. 2. Mic with Checkmark is gray. 3. 3 different options for mics are listed in drop down window, (Automatically use best mode), (Direct Sound), & (windows audio session). It is on (windows audio session). After right clicking speaker in Sytray - recording devices I have 3 different options, They all say "Not Plugged In". Here is my question. In the past I never needed a plugged in mic added to my computer. It was working fine just talking with others at the keyboard. Now I think that the only way to resolve this is, to go out and buy separate mics for both computers and add them in. Is that my only option?

If there is no Recording Device available to Windows (or Windows doesn't know about any) then how is TS3 supposed to know of any? TS3 can just use what Windows offers.
Btw. you chose the wrong dropdown... there is another one right below the one you checked. That other one is the important one.
You can try to right click in the Windows Recording Devices Window and click Show disabled and Show disconnected Devices. Make sure both are checked and see if you can locate any Mic.
Also if you never had any Mic connected to your PC how is anything supposed to record Audio without a microphone? It might work on laptops because those generally have Microphones built into the Case but that's usually not the case on PCs or Desktop Monitors.

Thanks, I'll try the other drop down and see what it offers. Also Both PC's were recording audio just fine for the first month on TS3 without a plugged in microphone, I don't understand how or why, I guess they were picking up sound through the external speakers? not sure, but we have also used Skype and FB video chat without mics, and that always works too. I don't understand it, but the PC's Do pick up sound.
