I can't start the server
I installed the server and got it to work fine from my desktop, but I do not want the server folder on my desktop.
So I started from scratch.
I created a new folder under "c:\Program Files" and named it "TS3 Server".
The full path is... C:\Program Files\TS3 Server
Then I opened the "teamspeak3-server_win32-3.0.6.zip" and then browsed to the "teamspeak3-server_win32" zip folder and extracted the contents to my new folder: C:\Program Files\TS3 Server
Then I created a shortcut to the "ts3server_win32.exe" file and dragged it to my Desktop and renamed the shortcut to "TS3 Server".
Then I launched the server using my new Desktop shortcut and the server started running.
Then I right clicked on the server icon in the task bar and chose "WAN IP" and copied the IP Address.
I then tried connecting to the server using the following login Info:
Server Address: localhost (and I tried the actually IP Address)
Nickname: Foxsone
Password: <no password>
I also tried editing the properties of the Desktop shortcut like this:
Target: "C:\Program Files\TS3 Server\ts3server_win32.exe" <install_directory>\ts3server_win32.exe createinifile=1
Start in: "C:\Program Files\TS3 Server"
So Why can't I connect? Why can't I get this to work from Program Files? I do not want to run the program from my Desktop. What do I need to do to make this work?
Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Use the original shortcut generated instead of your modified one, best to just delete the shortcut and then right click the exe Create shortcut and drag the shortcut to your desktop.
As to why your Server is not working: Possibly NTFS Permissions, but to be sure check the Server Logs for whats going on.

I did create the shortcut the way you explained, as I specified in my original post. The problem is not getting the server to run. The problem is trying to connect to it once it is running. Again, I can connect without any problems when I extract the zip to my Desktop and run the server from there, it just will not allow me to connect if I run the server from any place else. It has nothing to do with NTSF Permissions as far as I can tell.

Why don't you simply try what I've said and tell me if it works for you.
Right click on "Program Files" and choose "New Folder" and name it "TS3 Server".
Open the zip file and extract the contents of the zipped "teamspeak3-server_win32" Folder - to the new "TS3 Folder" that you just created.
Now, without even using a shortcut at all, double click the "ts3server_win32.exe" file and then copy the "Login Name", "Password" and "Server Admin Token" and save it to a new text file.
Launch your TeamSpeak 3 Client and see if you are able to connect at all.
Exactly. You can't. So what do I need to do so I can connect to it - without having to run it from my Desktop?

I even tried doing this...
I extracted the zip file to my desktop, ran the server and connected to it fine. Then I exited the client and the server.
I then created a "New folder" on my desktop and dragged the "teamspeak3-server_win32" folder into the new folder and ran the server fine, but I can no longer connect to it at all.
So why can't I connect to the server after simply moving the folder? How is it that all I did was drag the server into a new folder on my desktop and now I can no longer connect to it at all?
-----------
Edit
-----------
I also tried this...
I extracted the zip file to my desktop, ran the server and connected to it fine. Then I exited the client and the server.
I then renamed the "teamspeak3-server_win32" folder on my Desktop to be called "teamspeak3-server_win3" (removing the "2" at the end of the folder name, and ran the server fine, but I can no longer connect to it at all.
Simply renaming the folder on my desktop causes me to no longer be able to connect to TeamSpeak anymore.
Could somebody please find out why this is happening and what I can do to fix it - before I reinstall Ventrilo. I really don't want TeamSpeak on my Desktop.Last edited by Foxsone; 03-07-2012 at 00:48.

It doesn't make any sense... Renaming folder can cause problems only if something is based on folder path, f.e. your SHORTCUT.
Please download whole server .zip once again, extract it somewhere, rename folder and start server without using any shortcuts.
Check if problem persist.
