Hello! Two days ago license was updated and now it needs website.
Can i still get the license if i just have domain name and dont use it as web page?
I am part of a gaming community, and for that I bought a virtual server and domain and would like to put on a TeamSpeak license to extend the limit slots.
(Sorry for bad english)

A NPL does not need a Domain, because it is not included in the licensekey.dat

What makes you think it needs a website? It only needs a valid email address (to send the first license to)

i think he means the requirements for a npl which changed last week. now, you need a valid website and a email adresse associated to the website. e.g. if your website is abcdef.com, you need an email adress admin@abcdef.com .

Ah ok, but you still don't need a website since abcdef.com is just a domain name & may or may not have a website attached to it. Having an email address associated with the domain seems reasonable though.

omg, give me some time to get some informations about that. :-(
Edit
We had to many abuse of that license type and changed our requierements. Everybody wihout such a server does not need a license in most cases.Last edited by dante696; 10-07-2012 at 13:04.

i agree partial. But many gamer communitys doesn't need a website but need more than 32 slots in teamspeak. E.g. Guilds in online games. We had to many abuse of that license type and changed our requierements. Everybody wihout such a server does not need a license in most cases.
I think it would be a good idea to increase the maximum amount of slots without license to 50.
But all the existing NPL's are not affected by that change, are they?

This is the point where licensing policy comes into play.

NPL Policy Grievance!!
Hello
I'm here to express my grievances with the new NPL Policy for Teamspeak Servers.
Firstly I will say I am fine with all the changes to the policy except one.
A Bit of Background first though. On your website under licensing (http://sales.teamspeakusa.com/licensing.php)
under the Non-Profit Licensing section you state that
"Non-Profit licenses are ideal for: Large groups of friends & family, large gaming clans/guilds, academic groups."
Ok good.
I proceed to the Register section then it tells me what i don't want to read
Ok I'm Fine with all of them except one.WARNING: Our Non-Profit License (NPL) Policies have changed!
Our new requirements include the following:
You MUST have a verifiable, operational website on a custom domain
(eg - 'www.mygroupsite.com').
You MUST have an email address associated with your custom domain
(eg - 'yourname@mygroupsite.com' -- personal email addresses as well as free email services such as gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc, are no longer valid).
You MUST provide a static IP address on which you intend to run your NPL-licensed server.
If an NPL has already been issued on the IP address you supply, your application will be denied. You MUST host your NPL-licensed server on a unique IP address.
When we verify your website, it CANNOT have any donation buttons or advertising of any kind.
If you do not meet these core requirements, please DO NOT PROCEED.
OK Firstly I will tell you this. NPL Stands for Not For Profits Licence. When we verify your website, it CANNOT have any donation buttons or advertising of any kind.
Definition
(Not-for-Profit) An organization that channels any funds remaining after paying operating expenses back into programs and services rather than sharing profits with owners, shareholders and executives.
OK So basically I run a rather big Gaming Clan. We Play Minecraft and a variety of other games. We have a website, which we need to get this license. The Website Costs Money, so does the servers hosting. How are we meant to keep going without donations from the members who want it to keep going.
You have now cut off our only source of revenue.
Just because we take in donations doesn't mean we are profiting from it. All of the Donations are used to pay for the servers running costs and any access money is kept in the paypal account that we use to pay for everything. None of this money goes to anyone than people we need to pay for hosting.
What idiot thought of this new policy. Are you expecting us now to pay $300 ( We don't even get that much in donations a Tri-Annually) for the equivalent licence just because we get donations. If you do you really need to get you're act straight.
I highly suggest you change your policy because this is going to give you a bad reputation and people will no longer use you're software.
Thank You Very Much.
P.S
I'l also be emailing this to your emails

I personally think this is an unfair policy change, many legitimate NPL users won't need or want a website. Has a similar policy change been made to paid for licenses?

I agree entirely, our website has a Paypal donate button, purely to help with the cost of our VPS which hosts TS3 & our website, there's usually not enough income to cover the cost so the guy that runs the Paypal account usually has to dip into his own pocket to cover the bills. I think I can safetly say we don't profit from our donate button.

NPL policy change - a request to reconsider
A new policy change of the NPL license is being widely reported on these forums. This policy change requires all NPL users to have a website without any donation buttons or advertising.
A lot of NPL users will not be able to adhere to these conditions, some will not need or want a website, whist those that do have a website (like myself) have a donate button to cover the cost of the services required to run our website & Teamspeak server. We certainly do not profit from this donate button (donations usually don't cover the costs) so can not see why having a donate button should prevent us from having a NOT FOR PROFIT license.
If we were to lose our NPL, the equivalent paid for license would cost $300 (AAL, 512 slots), this is something we cannot afford.
Please reconsider this policy change
