Solved Poke text should log to the Sender as well as the Receiver

When someone pokes me, it looks something like:

    Code:
<05:10:10> "Foobar" pokes you: This is a poke.
However, when I poke someone it does not log to my server chat. This is necessary because when I send someone pokes to discuss or in reply to something, I may forget what I poked to them. I also do not have the access to the logs of what I myself have said.

It much rather belongs into the Private Chat Log for that Client NOT in the Serverlog, but yes I agree it should get logged. It could just open a private Chat tab to the User who issued the poke just as if it had been a private Message.

Yes!!! I agree. Move the current Poke logs into private chat for both sender and receiver.

    This won't be changed.

Using pokes for a conversation is kind of abuse of that feature.
This should only be used, to get the attention of someone.

Additional, this would mean, that the user also needs "i_client_private_textmessage_power" and that the target user does not blog his private chat.

Then reply to my feature request instead of SilentStorm's. I have no problem with pokes logging to server chat, but make it so that the sender has a record of what he or she said. It's like printing receipts. You print receipts to have a record of what you did.

It is not logged, so why shoudl this be added. Explained in your other thread.

What a weired handling of 2 threads.

Uhm no, this is definitely not true.

If I poke someone the Client is aware of the following important things: The Clients Unique ID and the Servers Unique ID, as such the client could write the poke into the Log (if enabled). The Client is also aware of the Client ID of whoever I poke. Since Chat tabs are a local thing, the client could just create a new Chat Tab for that Client (If there is none yet) and put the Poke into that newly created tab.

No need for any Server Interaction (except for sending the poke) or any permission checking as it's all local anyway...

Also other Thread? What other Thread? I originally replied to his Suggestion making it better (imho).

The only thing I want, to begin with, is that the receiver's text:

    Receiver - server.html
    Code:
<05:10:10> "PatPeter" pokes you: This is a poke.
That you sent, also shows up in your server logs.

    Sender - server.html
    Code:
<05:10:10> You poked "Foobar": This is a poke.
This is not using pokes for conversations. It is simply logging the post sender-side.

As per your response to SilentStorm's suggestion, if a client needs i_client_private_textmessage_power for the poke to show up in a private message tab, then a client also needs b_client_server_textmessage_send to poke a user (as it is now, since the poke notification shows up in server chat).

Is it not a legitimate point that if a client needs the private text message permission for pokes to log in the private message tab, that the client must also have the permission for server text message send, since that is where the receiver can view it?

As I already pointed out logging this does not require any permissions at all since the Client would just decide to create a new Chattab and log it into the appropriate File, the server would just send a poke as usual and as it is already done now. All this needs is an addition to the Client.

Look, we can make a new feature request for moving pokes to private chat logs, but for now, this is all I am requesting.

Pokes should show in the server tab for senders as well as receivers

The last time I posted this topic, it was derailed. So I would kindly ask that ONLY this suggestion is examined.

When you receive a poke, it displays the poke in your server chat when you receive it, but not when you send it:

    Code:
<03:20:38> Connected to Server: Official TeamSpeak Public Test Server
<04:20:00> "Foobar" pokes you: And hello to you too.
    It should display like this:

    Code:
<03:20:38> Connected to Server: Official TeamSpeak Public Test Server
    <03:50:00> You poked "Foobar": Hi!
<04:20:00> "Foobar" pokes you: And hello to you too.
Why should TeamSpeak log when you receive a poke, but not when you send one? Not logging what you poke leaves other pokes meaningless. You no longer know the context as to why you poked the individual or why that individual poked you.

dante unjustly rejected this suggestion without understanding it. It's very simple:

You see incoming poke notifications in your server chat tab, therefore
You should also see outgoing (your) poke notifications in the server chat tab.

I don't understand why this is so hard to understand.

Well, since in my other thread this was actually added in the last major update:

    http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthrea...ecord-the-date

Why shouldn't we add what is in this thread?

Also, someone gave me bad reputation for this post:

I didn't mention it, but I actually tried to create a thread that requested only my simple change and not the change that SilentStorm suggested which essentially derailed this thread.

    It was deleted.

So, if this thread is going to be unjustly ignored and viewed with a biased perspective based on another thread, why should any suggestion thread be read?
