    Solved Stale Decoder detected 3.0.8

This is the error message I get when all sound in TS3 stops, even notification sounds: "Decode Error Stale Decoder detected, terminating it. Was ever active = 1". I see that I get about 20 of them a second when I click on the little red X sign in the lower right. Others in the channel can hear me fine but I can't hear anything.

I'm using TS3 with the game Arma2 and all sounds in Arma2 also stop when this happens. The only way to get sounds back has been to close the programs and open them again. Other sounds like Windows sounds and youtube video sounds are not affected. I've tried uninstalling TS3 and re-installing it and this seemed to fix the problem at first but it just starts happening again within a few hours. Also, every time TS3 'freezes' like this all the little lights next to the users' names remain as they were when it froze, weather lit or not. I've tried updating my sound drivers but that didn't do anything. I've found others reporting a similar error message on the internet but that was years ago and was reported as fixed with a release of TS3 that was new back then.

I'm using the Windows 32-bit 3.0.8. version client.

    Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: I should add some computer specs:

    Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
    Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
and my sound card is listed as High Definition Audio Controller

Here's some of the logfile of the last time this error happened (I've deleted a bunch of the 'Decode Error Stale Decoder detected, terminating it. Was ever active = 1/0' lines so the file wouldn't be 4MB)

Here's a logfile of what happens when I change playback mode from 'Automatically use best mode' to Direct Sound and change playback device from default to headphones.

Same thing happens with the sound.

I've since also tried setting the playback mode to Windows Audio Session and playback device to headphones and managed to play like this for 4 or 5 hours, even when there were lots of players in the channel. But then suddenly the sound in-game (in Arma2) stopped while the sound in TS3 was still working normally. After about 10 minutes of this the sound in TS3 also stopped, at a moment when there were lots of players in the channel speaking at the same time, making it seem like TS3 was overloaded or something. I also noticed that at the moment that the sound stops(both in Arma2 and then in TS3) there's a semi-loud crack sound. Here's the logfile from this time:

There are a lot of these messages in your client log. Is this an usb device or do you use the onboard soundcard
I guess it's an realtek soundcard. Please try this driver R2.70 http://www.realtek.com/downloads/dow...&GetDown=false

Or try another USB slot, when it is an usb headset (or maybe the cable is broken?)

I don't have a sound device that's connected by usb, only the mouse I think is usb connected. I almost certainly do have an onboard sound card, but I have been unable to find out what kind. It only ever comes up as High Definiton Audio Controller. I've even tried using the program Everest to find out the make but it also just gives me 'High Definiton Audio Controller'. It also just gave me 'Unknown' as the name of my motherboard and its chipset; but under the motherboard ID I did see 'Eaglelake' among all the numbers.

Just in case it's important to mention - in the last logfile I posted I'm pretty sure that at time 1:35:32 was when sound in-game stopped, and that at 1:47:56 (when the decode errors start) is when TS3 sounds stopped.

I will install the driver you posted and use TS3 further to see if the problem continues.

    Anyway, thanks for the reply.

EDIT: The link you posted won't let me download the driver; it just takes me in circles - telling me the object has been moved, and then bringing me back to the first page. I clicked on realtek.com the 'Downloads', then 'High Definition Audio Codecs (software)' and there I downloaded the first one that says "32bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8 Driver only (Executable file)". Is this the same driver?

As long it also shows version R2.70
Sorry for that bad url, wanted to make it as easy as possible.

I wonder, why the client says a device was removed and added. This message is for usb devices.

OK, I've installed the R2.70 driver and been using TS3 for over a week and am happy to say that it is working well. No more errors.

    Thanks for the help!
