Unable to connect to my own server

    Greetings,

First off, let me say that I'm not familiar with TS at all. I used TS2 a little in the past, but that was years ago. So, I may not be familiar with what exactly one might talk about in trying to trouble shoot this issue.

That being said, I recently tried to set up a TS3 server on my computer. I followed the step by step tutorial provided on the TS website to the letter. Additionally, per other tutorials and trouble shooting sources, I forwarded the TCP 10011 & 30033 ports as well as the 9987 UDP port on my router (making sure that they were forwarded for my PC). When attempting to connect, I had tried my local IP, public IP, and "localhost", in addition to variants with ":9987" following them, as addresses to attempt to connect.

Unsure as to whether or not it was my server or client set up that was causing the issue, I asked some friends to try and connect - they could not. I also tried connecting to some other servers and was successful in doing so. Therefore, I believe the issue to be with the server setup.

Thank you in advance for whatever help you are able to provide.

    Additional information:
    Router - Linksys Wireless G WRT160Nv3
    System - Windows XP SP3 32bit
Windows Firewall is NOT active (gave TS Server and client permissions anyway, just in case)
    No anti-virus protection is active

The Server needs to be running for any Connection to be successful.
Make sure you have a Static Local IP so that your IP doesn't get changed by your Router rendering the Port Forwarding Settings useless.
Also double check that the Port Forwardings are setup to the correct IP.

    SilentStorm,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I had double checked that my port forwardings were correct, though I didn't have it set to a static local IP. Unfortunately, having just set my computer to a static local IP, I am still getting the same error.

In regards to the server running, I believe it is - the icon is in the task bar. Right clicking it yields only the "About", "WAN IP ->" and "Exit" options.

Is there something in your server log files?

Your server is running under port 9988 and not 9987

This thread explains how you can change the port afterwards
