Can connect to my own server
hi,
i create a server, i get the ip, try to connect on, connection error***, i can't connect to my own server and my friend can't connect to it !! how can i resolve that, I have a linux ( red hat 9 ) firewall, norton a-v 2003.
plz i need help

i forgot my machine working on windows 2000, the linux machine is a gateway ( sharing the internet )

I assume you're using the Linux firewall script to forward (masquerade) packets. You need to configure the forwarding rule in this script.
There are LOT's of hints about this in the web (=> google). MAybe you can find some threads about in this forum too ??
Make sure you open all ports required to run the server / client (Ports are in the FAQ !) in the firewall too !

Also make sure that you use the LAN IP from within the LAN and the WAN IP form outside.
