Whisper to channel commander in channel family 'X'
In my own biased opinion, TeamSpeak 2 was made for World War II Online. Both sides of this MMOG push the new TeamSpeak to its absolute limit in organizing hundreds of players on a single virtual battlefield. These aren't just different channels for different unrelated clans. We have numerous channel families to reflect the entire order of battle for the western front and allow all branches to communicate. Officers must have the ability to communicate with other officers in different channels and channel families in different branches.
Presently, we are in the process of evolving our communication protocols. Many of us are beginning to use the whisper to all channel commanders feature for our officers to communicate with other officers in different channel families. However, we cannot sustain this growth in the use of chan. commander whispers because eventually officers will be talking over each other all the time. We need to be able to better direct our whispers to specific groups of channel commanders.
I suggest that the developers code the ability for TeamSpeak users to whisper to channel commanders in another channel family; not just their own. This means having yet another field in the keybinding window to choose a specific channel family in which to whisper to channel commanders.
e.g Whisper to --> Chan. Commander --> In Channel Family --> "channel family X"
There must be some way to enable us to whisper to channel commanders in different channel families without having to use the All option. Soon we will no longer be able to use the All option because we will have simply too many channel commanders in too many different channels for it to work effectively; we'll all just end up talking over each other and our channels.

My suggestion on the whisper aspect is this. When you are a channel commander and you have that bound, it talks to all channel commanders in the entire server (when you have that checked to talk to other channel commanders). The server is run has 2 separate channels for a group, and the commanders of each like to talk to each other, but then when they talk, it goes to all of the channel commanders on the entire server. So my question is this. Is there a way that you can have an option to select which channels you want to "whisper to" int he next build? That would get rid of alot of headaches on my server and possibly others too.

06-12-2003, 18:51 #3I think you meant "whisper to channel commander" instead of just "whisper to". If so, then I agree completely. In large servers with multiple channel families, whispering to all channel commanders is unmanageable and results in whispers "walking over" too many transmissions. A player should be able to whisper to the channel commanders in a particular channel (or channel family) without having to actually be in that particular channel or (channel family). Is there a way that you can have an option to select which channels you want to "whisper to" int he next build?

Here is an example of what I'm talking about.
Say I'm in the 5th Panzerdivision channel family and I want to speak to the channel commanders in the 6th Panzerdivision channel family. I would keymap like this:

I know how to do that, but the clan that is on my server has 2 different channels. Is it possible to set it so that you can talk to 2 different channels with the same button? That would help me out, then that would solve my problem.

I posed that pic to better explain the feature I would like to see in a future version of teamspeak. It doesn't exist now. I edited the pic to show the "in own channel family" selection as opposed to "in channel family" which would bring up that fourth field below, allowing me to select a channel family. I would like to be able to select which channel family I CCW instead of being limited to my own channel family or the entire server.
Farva, in this version of Teamspeak you can talk to many channels with one button. Keybind this:
Whisper to --> Channel list --> [add as many channels as you like here]
You just select a channel from the drop down menu, then click the add button for each channel you want to transmit to.
Hope that helps.Last edited by FuZe; 12-12-2003 at 23:37.
