Known bugs POST THEM HERE

1) Some users expirence lock ups when trying to set priority in XP. Most times it crashes their systems.
2) TS 2.0 doesnt like Q3 engine games. MOHAA especially.
3) Even after adjusting the sound devices to wave, people are still having stutterig issues and break ups.
4) No built in microphone input level? Curious to know why they took that outta this build?
5) SEtting your options to priority? Not all people can do that. Some use Win98 or even Windows ME.
When they adjust it IN TS using the real time it still has the issues.
6) ROBOT sounds. People are complainin they sound like a robot.
7) When they key their microphone there seems to be a very fast cut off so their sentences are often cutt short.

I am sure there is more, but I thought this will help them to see what problems the majority is having.

<pats trusty ol TS 1.5> lol

Read the solutions in the FAQ? If they don't help... ARGH!

2) TS 2.0 doesnt like Q3 engine games. MOHAA especially.
No idea about this

3) Even after adjusting the sound devices to wave, people are still having stutterig issues and break ups.
Hmmm, could be priority probs. When set to realtime the probs go away for some people (and creating probs for others)

4) No built in microphone input level? Curious to know why they took that outta this build?
Because TS2.0 has a built in voice-normalization function. Use the windows mixer and fiddle around a bit.

5) Setting your options to priority? Not all people can do that. Some use Win98 or even Windows ME.
When they adjust it IN TS using the real time it still has the issues.
It has issues, granted, but some can be helped. I understand that under 2000 and XP setting it to realtime really hogs up resources for some people. It's noted and we'll look into it.

6) ROBOT sounds. People are complainin they sound like a robot.
That's purely a codec thing. Or being assimilated by the BORG.. Choose what's more likely....

7) When they key their microphone there seems to be a very fast cut off so their sentences are often cut short.
Correct me if I'm wrong (or just not getting it) but isn't this just a case of holding down the key longer than you talk?

Keep em coming people! Lists are nice Just copy paste Prophecy's list and add your bugs to it!

We had issues with MOHAA untill we tried the Real Time setting. Between 2 of us using w2k it was a vast improovement and (allmost) eliminated all the breakups.

Will w98 users not be able to do this? This would ba serious problem for some of us.

Keymapper bug #1: When you are trying to use the keymapper to switch to another channel, the pull-down menu shows all the channels and subchannels in the order that they were made/edited. Over time, as channels are added and edited, the order as they are listed begins to get all out of whack. You used to be able to manually change the order by editing the tsserver.ini file.

Keymapper bug #2: Subchannels can have the same name as other subchannels from different parent channels. They are listed in the keymapper's pull-down menu with only the name of the subchannel; there are redundant names, with no way of telling them apart.
Example: If I make two parent channels ("BKB" and "DOG"), then if I make identical subchannels from each ("Platoon 1", "Platoon 2"), the channels show in the keymappers pull-down menu as two "Platoon 1" channels and two "Platoon 2" channels.
Due to the keymapper bug #1, they may not be in order. This makes it difficult to tell which subchannel is which.
Workaround: Give each subchannel a unique name "BKB Platoon 1", "DOG Platoon1" etc.

Not a bug but... Any way to directly edit the server.db file? Can it be done with PHP? Pretty please?

strange sounds / gone after restart

Hi

I noticed that my windows client sometimes goes wild, from a moment on, there is only static chatter on the channel I heard from a friend. I could verify this when I check in the Settings and did a local test, only ssshhs and steetekjtkj.

After restarting the client everything was normal again.

I noticed that it is easy to see if the client goes wild, then when it does, the green sending led is always on regardless of your settings.

Tupsi

I am using the latest linux 17 server and the normal windows client under windows xp with standard direct sound settings. will change this now to wave and report back as soon as there is a something to note.

Bugs ive found (sorry for repeats but just letting u know them all):

1)Lockup on XP (know the work-around realtime=normal, but i play mohaa)

2)Server shorcut needed editing so that the admin logon worked (no big deal)

3)using loop back test thing with process priority set to low causes crash/freeze (prob related to #1)

4)Echo when 2 players talk at same time (speakers are off) - biggest worry at the moment

Feature problems:
(minor problems that i think should be addressed)

1) "PUCK" keys TEAM and ALL seem glichy, staying on (need to disconnect/reconnect at USB)

2) Cant key bind the spacebar

3) superserver admins can have their (SA) rights revokd by server admins or themselves. imo superserver admin should be able to revoke other SA and not vicea-versa.

I consider myslef Pro TS2, and have spent about 16+hrs reading forums, setting up my TS2 and tweaking it to get it to sound good. But i feel that a lot of people dont have the patience for this, and will just give up on TS2 unless some sort of setup wizard or good thorough setup guide is written.

Sorry if that sounds bitchy, im quite happy with the early performance of TS2 (but am having trouble convining some) and would like to say thanks to the team who built it.

Win XP Home
Athon 1900+ XP
512Mb RAM
Audigy S.card
GForce 2 Ti 64Mb
ADSL
(all latest drivers)
