Server settings reset?

I just installed TS2 Windows Server on my Win XP Pro box and everything went fine...I setup some user accounts for everyone, we tested it all night, no problems. But when I rebooted and had to reload the server, all the user accounts disappeared. After further testing, this happens every time I reset the server. Anyone know what's wrong and/or how to fix it?

A weired one. Why don't you just allow Users to register and see if this still happens ? On my W32 box only the Channels reappear in the fashion they where initially created and changed in the meantime but the Users are always the same.

However if the Users do not register themselves with the Server I am not suprised the names are not kept

It resets the server admin password too though...Even though I deleted the admin account and made my own account super admin...I've tried not deleting the admin account also. It resets pretty much everything. In the server.ini the settings are still all the same though.

Send a message via ICQ to raru.kaycee
do you shutdown the server itself before you reboot? if not the settings are lost...
also if it crashes... only a normal shutdown will prevent any settings to be lost

I have to backup CrazyJawa's claim ... I got the same results on an XPpro box.

In fact, I wasn't able to get into the server administration areas as directed (ie. Install Server, shut it down, check log for user and password, and then start it back up and log in). I can only get into Administrative area if I install server and check the log while its running (right after install - WITHOUT SHUTTING DOWN). As soon as I exit the server (right click on systray icon and choose exit), everthing that I've done (users, password, channels etc...) IS GONE !!! However, with a hex editor, all my info is in the server.db file, it just doesn't seem to read it anymore !!!!

The FIX was soooooo simple its disgusting. If you change the START IN entry for the icon that starts your server_windows.exe file, ALL of the above problems dissapeared for me !!!

I am getting a similar problem except I am running the server as a service on w2k box. When stopping the service it does not save the channels.
Since it is a service I cant shutdown the program effectively.
I wish there was a save settings option similar to TS1.5. That would fix all for me ??

For server running as a service this is not unfortunately the answer.
I am using Srvany to setup the service and I am using the registry key AppDirectory to specify the server directory.

The onl;y solution I have found so far I think is to do a restart via the web Admin interface.
Go to server settings and make no change but save anyway.
Pressing continue restarts server with new settings and at the same time saves info.
This is not a service start stop action just an internal program function.
Doesn't solve the real issue casue can't keep doing that when channels are added and only superadmins can do this anyway.

Thanks for the link tho.
