Server rejecting Logins

Running the server on a W2k server as a service.
Couple of times now the server has stopped responding to users trying to connect. At first I thought something else had caused an error on the machine so rebooted the whole system.
A second time I decided to do a bit more investigation and found that the server_windows process was using over 16mb of memory.
Previously I have only seen this process use between 3 and 6 mb of memory.

Symptom was that users connected to the server where ok at first but any new users where not able to connect and recieved the message that server was not responding or may not be started.
Eventually all users where effected and timed out or stopped recieving.
The server in question had been running TS1 for many months continously with no problems and our player base (300+ users) where happy with the system. This is now the third crash since starting server.

Only unusaly bit is a lot of messages in server log such as folowing.
30-08-02 10:21:48,ERROR,All,StoreReceivedPacket, playerid 949 not found

Anyone seen similar problems or found a solution etc.
We are happy with the system but obviously cant continue if it is not reliable.
