I had a similar problem. Make sure that in your sound settings you have the mic muted or disabled on the "Playback" and it is enabled in the "Recording". Having the mic enabled in the playback makes "White noise" or other undisarable sounds when you talk, ex. your voice going in to a loop back or sounds from your game going through your mic.

My mates tell me that I produce lots of static noise or also called background stuff... But nothing else is making a sound than myself...
My Soundcard (onboard): Realtek ALC655 6 Channel Surround
I tried about 3-4 drivers now, both are VIA AC'97 drivers and Realtek's AC'97 drivers...
The best results came out to be the Realtek drivers, with have the Sound Manager and therefor a Microphone Effect called Noise Supression, which make me sound like a Robot on TS, but removes any noise else than my own voice...
Via's drivers have no extra stuff, like the Sound Manager, and because of that it sucks...
Note: Everytime I try a new driver, I ensure that the old one is uninstalled and the computer have been rebooted...
The TS2 Server runs Speex 25.9 kbit codec
Here are two screenshot I've taken, one with the TS setup and another one with my Recording sound configuration...

Anyone have a suggestion or two :P ?

No problems or complaints with the Realtek AC97 on my Abit BE7S board, WXP and headset mic.
A friend has the same mobo and also no troubles (we talk with each other often via TS2).
Usually those background noises are from interference like the monitor or video card. Try displaying light or dark images to see if the sound changes. If so, its a video noise problem. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to truly fix it, but sometimes adjusting the volume and microphone gains correctly can minimize the problem.
Also, make sure that the mic is muted in PLAYBACK settings, but active in the RECORD volume settings (potentially with a very high gain).
Hope that helps.

Got the same problems (static noises, robot speach) like you others here! I have an abit ic7 and the newest problem was that sound crashes completly when playing new games (starcraft for exampls worked perfekt). My solution after trying multiple drivers, i bought a new soundcard.
Greetings Ben

Hmmm... it's a bummer that this implementation has been done so poorly on some motherboards. Let me try to share how mine is configured, in case that helps somebody else:
First my config:
WXP Pro SP1
P4 2.5GHz
512MB RAM
Abit BE7S (with Realtek AC97)
Nvidia GeForce FX 5700
In hardware setting sound, video game controllers:
Lots of generic stuff, plus Realtek AC'97 Audio
Using the Realtek driver: 10/16/2002 5.10.0.4050 (Not signed).
(Note how fabulously ancient this is! New drivers aren't always better!)
For resources: it has 2I/O ranges, 2 Mem ranges and IRQ 17.
Note that it does NOT share IRQ17 with anything else. This can be key.
From the Sound Properties panel:
Audio tab: Realtek AC97 Audio is chosen for Default playback and Recording device. M$ GS Wavetable is the MIDI device.
-Advanced: Preformance: Full hardware accel, Best sample rate conversion.
For voice: Same settings.
DirectX:
Direct X 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902)
Sound Driver: ALCXWDM.SYS 5.10.0000.4050 10/16/2002 Not Logo'd.
Hardware Acceleration: Full
Volume control: and this one is key for what your teammates hear:
Options->Enable Advanced controls.
By default, the Volume Control shows the playback properties. To avoid feedback (which can significantly affect quality, even if you don't really hear it) make sure that the microphone slider is MUTEd.
Now go to Options->Properties
Select Recording radio button, and make sure that the microphone is checked.
Hit OK, and the dialog changes to the Recording Properties mixer. Most people don't even know this is here!
For my headset, I have the mic slider about 3/4 up. Make sure that the Select box is checked for the microphone (and off for everything else).
If you click advanced there is an option for mic boost. This works well for my microphone, and raises your voice higher above the noise level.
Teamspeak settings:
Ver: TS2 2.0.32.60
Server: 2.0.20.1
Sound Devices:
Direct sound is selected, better Sound Quality.
For Input/Output I have Primary Sound selected (not Realtek... although it shouldn't make any difference).
For bandwidth I have both pegged at 32 kbits/s.
Our team uses CELP 5.1 kbit and is sounds fine.
I use voice activation set at about 60% (this will depend on you mic!)
Basically, it's a signal to noise ratio problem. If the mic is barely picking you up compared to the noise it's receiving (both on the mobo, poor shielding in the cabling and those fuel tanks you keep fragging), you'll get the happy helicopter. If your voice is powerful enough (mic close to mouth, not sitting on monitor) it makes a HUGE difference.
Good luck!

try this ...
on the ac97 problems try to get drivers from http://www.kxproject.com
& if you have issues with the "default" mic or recording device there should be a default device settings in your hardware properties . If that's not it then go into your tv card & other hardware make sure they do not set to default device . You may need to go to the site of device to post problems & get new drivers .

A problem with ac97.
Everytime I talk on teamspeak at the same time as some one else on the same channel they can hear everything I hear in my headphones (themselves, My game sounds and everything coming out of my mic ofcourse). I've allready figured out that its a software problem since i unplugged my mic and pushed the mic activation button they could still hear themselves . so them problem is not that the mic records the sounds coming from my headphones. what do i need to do ?
working drivers or settings anyone ? please post pictures of you settings or something. its really annoying . everything is ok if no one else talks at the same time as me.

Check out the volume control settings from the post I made above. If you've tried that already, are you using any other sound 'mixer' program (other than "Volume Control")? It sounds like TS is receiving the 'What you hear' output path rather than 'microphone'. It might be in your TS settings, but it's probably in your mixer settings.

I have the same problem. If I get a USB headset will it bypass the sound card? The sound card works for everything except TS and RW.

TV card ?
Usually when you have sound from 1 device but not another then it's from conflicts . Windows may say you don't have a conflict in device manager but if you go to the manufacturer's site they will probably e-mail you a diffrent driver package or tell you to reinstall . If so make sure you restart pc after installation of each device .

no "real" answers?
it seems that there are no "real" solutions offered yet.
I think I have the same problem as many, and I just gave up :(
ABit IC-7 mobo with AC97 onboard
problem: everything that happens on my PC feeds back on TS (voice, gamenoise, u name it) ... and also in the Windows test and other programs.
I use a headset and a table mike, same since 5 years, that work fine.
My sound settings and various sliders in the play/rec tabs are set ok.
on five (5) other PC's, all different (ASUS, 2xABit, MSI, Biostar), it works fine.
some use the same drivers.
what I tried:
Changed mobo (Albatron with AC97 onboard) ... nothing solved
Changed PSU ... nothing solved
Tried USB mike ... nothing solved
Tried two dif soundcards Creative Audigy and Terratec 5.1 Dig. ... nothing solved
Updated the chipset, mobo, video and AC97 drivers ... nothing solved
I build PC's for a living (I own a store), and this is ONE problem I don't seem to be able to solve on my own. Go figure that this one is my own.
so the question is: Anyone out there really solved this problem ?

Your card sounds like it is recording "What you hear" and not just voice.
Go to Start --> Run
Type in sndvol32.exe and hit enter
Go to Options --> Properties
Select Recording
Make sure that All controls are selected to be shown.
Check to see if your card is set to record "What you hear"
If it is that then change it to Microphone
Lentil has the right idea though from what it sounds like it is doing.

in shuttle ....
Hi all
I'm French and I have a problem with TeamSpeak and DoD.
My computer is :
- Shuttle SS 51 G v2.
- PIV 2,4 Ghz B & 1 go RAM (Corsair).
- Geforce 5600 sparkle.
- Integrated Sound Card realtek AC 97.
- Windows 2000.
- Platronics Audio 90 & Altec Lansing ACS 54 W.
When I want to speak in TS2 and DoD, it was impossible.
Just TS2, but not DoD. (if I open TS2 at first)
Have you got any solution ?
if I take a Sound Blaster live 5.1 Digital, is it better for this problem ?

You might want to check your hardware acceleration settings in your direct x. Just follow the directions at this post:
http://forum.teamspeak.com/showthr...5120#post75120
That should allow you to check the settings, also you might want to try and decrease your buffer size as you may need the memory for your game.
Edit: Realtek 97 does have updates to it's drivers. One thing I have noticed is it somewhat lacks in the Direct X support area. You might want to try an external card or get the latest drivers. Lastly you might want to check and see if you have Full Duplex enabled on your card. If not that could be why you are unable to use it. (Simulated Full Duplex will not work either if that is an option)

I don't know if I have Full Duplex or not.
It was an integrated chipset for the sound. (in the motherboard)
I think that I buy a sound card : Sound Blaster Live 5.1 digital
(or a friend give me a sound card)
Do you think if I put Windows XP, is it better ?
because a lot of friends don't have this problem with XP.
