How to tell your IP address?

I was nudged in this direction after a post on the general board.

I need to know how to tell what my IP address is. I've tried this with other software, and I often get two different IP addresses. Is there a way to know what your real IP address is? Some sort of command-prompt function, or somesuch?

I am running a single computer, win xp, on a DSL line, and I turn off the firewall when gaming.

This is probably incredible simple for some of the networking guru's out there, but I simply don't know about this stuff. My gang and I once tried to play dungeon-siege together, but couldn't get any of our IP addresses to work until the last fellow fed us his numbers. Sad night, as the slowest computer wound up hosting the game.

If you can advise me, I'd appreciate it.

From the command line, try "ipconfig /all". This works for NT and Win2k and should for XP, since it's also NT-based. This is typically longer than 25 lines. You can stretch the height of a console window with a command like "mode 80,50" (80 columns, 50 lines). You can also redirect the output to a file with "ipconfig /all > ipconfig.txt" and then open the text file in Notepad to browse.

For Win9x/ME, use "winipcfg" and cycle through the "interfaces" (network cards and dialup PPP connections) to find the the IP of your outside interface.
