Integer Overflow

Hi guys, I just downloaded and installed the new client, and since I deleted the old TeamSpeak install directory, I couldn't use the uninstall script, so I deleted all the files manually, even ~/.teamspeak2

anyway, I then proceed to install the new TS2, and the graphical installer gave an error but the text-mode one kicked in and installed fine. When I run it as root, I have no problems at all, but as a normal user I get a whole lot of messageboxes that say integer overflow... if I click any menu, or resize/move the window a **** load of those boxes appear, but TS doesn't crash... so anyway, I went into the new TS2 install dir and ran the uninstall script, I reinstalled and this time the graphical installer worked (go figure), but it has the same prob!

anybody else with this prob?

I take that back!!! now it's doing the same error with root... damn weird

btw, I have a Gentoo 1.2 box if that'll help... running TS2 from the console gives no errors when the messages appear

nah, my problem wasn't the installer... but now that we are on the subject, I have a theory as to why it happened... see, when I ran the installer, the graphical UI came up and the textbox where u put the target directory for the files was disabled and was set to the directory I was using (/opt/TeamSpeak2), and then I clicked install and it crashed so the text-mode install kicked in... anyway, my theory (not tested), is one of two things: either the installer only works if u install on the default dir, or it was just a conflict with the old TS I had installed

btw, don't remove the installer, it rocks, but do fix the integer overflows, it gets really annoying :P

The Integer overflows are there because i switched from kylix2 to kylix3 i think (programming language). I dont have the errors here. I do have an idea to fix it. Would you be willing to test it?

As for the installer:
When it works it rocks. But its HUGE compared to the thing it must install, and it has serious limitations.

Ps. In the readme and on the frontpage of ts.org i wrote you should uninstall older versions of ts before installing a new one. Its one of the limitations of the installer i was talking about.

one more question:

Does it only happen on the main window, or also on dialogs (like create / edit channel, server info etc) ?

Try this. Just save ur old TeamSpeak.bin
then replace it with this one (note it is zipped with windows zip)
Attached Files
File Type: zip teamspeak_linuxpatch.zip (610.9 KB, 378 views)

I'm pretty much using a clean install of Redhat 8 (installed last weekend), never used/installed TS before and i'm having the Integer Overvflow prob.

Basically it happens only when I move the window around - otherwise it seems to work fine

If I move the window around quite a lot it'll end up crashing with the following message on the console:

Runtime error 231 at 08069D71
Runtime error 231 at 08069D71

Any more info, just ask!
