just me and a friend

hi all, first time here, and i apologize if this is in the wrong spot, but i coudnt see anywhere else this would really belong.

me and my friend enjoy playing BF2 together, but seems we live nowhere near each other, both of us getting on the same server to play can be difficult, my friend suggested we get TS so just me and him can talk to each other while on the serverr select screen, and i was wondering how to do this. i downloaded both the client and server, and installed both and had a go at setting somthing up, but its all got me a bit confused and i was hoping someone else could lend a hand.
