LINUX ---- UNIX Server Setup

@ all,

i have downloaded the server version for Linux. Is there a chance to get that running under a Webserver (UNIX)??

What i have to do for installation and how could i start the server.

Please help

if u have access to /usr/bin over a shell account u can install TSS.

Upload the .tar.gz to your webserver. Login. Unpack it using "tar -xvzf <filename>". There will be a new "tss" dir. cd into it, edit "tsserver.ini" (try the "mc" command for editing, on most boxes it starts a norton commander clone) and start your ts-server with one of the scripts. There is a little html doc inside your tss dir also.

You do not need to be root, unless you have to open a port or something like this...

TSS listens on a high port (>1024), and you don't have to be root for that. The main problem is that you probably want to leave the program running after you log out. You probably need nohup or screen for this. Or you can run it from an "at" or "cron" job. These don't require that you be logged in and run without a terminal.
