Gamevoice Hardware
Any thoughts on if the new Teamspeak will provide support for the Microsoft Gamevoice hardware?
A few of our group have gamevoice hardware, and if a better product were available that supported it, it would be an instant sell.

TS 2.0 will support the gamevoice hardware set..
(if our testing set arrives in time it should be in the first public release, else it will be added as soon as the it arrived)

It may be a bit early to ask, but will the new Teamspeak software support it directly, or will you still have to have some of the Microsoft Gamevoice software loaded? i.e. will the same firewall ports etc. be needed, or will it use the Teamspeak ports?

Does this mean that remote clients using Microsoft's GameVoice client will not be able to connect to the TS server? Or was this just a reference to not needing the client locally for TS to work?

TS will not be interoperable with GV's sound stuff.
What I understand is that GV comes with a little keyboard and the devs will work to figure out how to get the TS client to read the button presses on that keyboard.

OK,
So the impression I'm getting is that if you have the Microsoft Gamevoice connected, as long as your hardware recognizes it (i.e. the Microsoft drivers are loaded and operating correctly), then the Teamspeak software will get loaded and will function with the Gamevoice hardware, but use all the Teamspeak ports, software, server, etc. etc.
I'll be interested in testing/trying it out. There are a lot of Gamevoice users out there that have problems with Gamevoice and a different solution would get a lot of customers.

ScratchMonkey,
The GameVoice unit is round, black, and slightly larger than a hockey puck, so I call it a puck. It contains jacks for the mic and headphones, a volume control, and 8 lighted buttons. Off of it comes a USB-sound card-speaker cable. The 8 lighted buttons are #'s 1-4 for 4 other users, a "Team" button that you can assign multiple users to, an "All" button to speak to everyone (DuH!), a mute button, and a "Command" button to allow you to issue voice commands to your games.
The GV hardware is cool, the software sucks. Although I would like to see some interoperable software, particularly if it would be a Linux client.
GT,
Seems we both agree on the state of the M$ GV client. Do you have to have the GV software installed to use the GV with TS? I certainly hope not! Are you running TS 2.0 (beta) or just the 1.x client?
Thanks,
David

I don't have any TS software installed at this point. I'm running the Gamevoice purely with Microsnot Gamevoice software (1.5) as is my main multiplayer game buddy.
There are 4 other friends who want to get involved with live voice gaming, so we are looking for a solution to suit that as the Gamevoice software has problems with over 4 players if some are using the "free" version of gamevoice.
Actually, I can't even seem to find where to download the Beta from.

Voice quality is better on the GV 1.5 client than on the TS client. However the TS client loads faster and doesn't have lag and other problems associated with the GV cilent. Of course none of the GV buttons except the Mute button work, but that's supposed to get fixed in the 2.0 release.

From what I know of GV and M$ they have stop all support of GV and I'm not sure if they are developing any new versions. But if TS can pull this off by having TS use all the hardware options of GV with all the options of TS 2.0 you will win over alot of pissoff GV owners from all over the world, let alone the respect of the gaming community for doing what M$ wouldn't.
Hell to the King... he's a gamer.

I'm pretty sure you're right about that, Ten4. I do believe that M$ has stopped further development on the GV software. Too bad for them (and us) but if TS can fill the game, then three cheers for them!
