Mutant Gene Responsible for Speech?

Seen on SlashDot today:

To me, the interesting thing relevant to TS is how much advantage speech gave to early humans and how fast the new gene swept through the population. Can we hope that TS sweeps as fast through the gaming population?

I am the one and only talking dog WOOF!

hehe, easy to see why the abillity to form more complex sounds is an advantage, especially in the dog-eat-dog (no pun intended) era mentioned. Likwise the improvment in gaming, the abillity to communicate well brings a clan of good individuals into a well oiled team.
