Sound gets all crunchy and I get a echo:(

I have a problem that appears sometimes when I go to play online in Counter-Strike. I dont know how I should explain the prob in the best way so yall understand but I get a kind of "loud, crunchy, echo" sound problem sometimes, as if I where playing with a homemade soundcard or something.

It only appears when playing online in counter-strike and being connected to a teamspeak server at the same time, and the shittysound only affects the counter-strike sound, not the Teamspeak voicequality or anything like that.

I use:

SoundBlaster 5.1 Live!(its not a high-tech soundcard, is that why?)
Dell Dimension 8200
P4, 1,8Ghz
512rdRAM
Geforce 4
ADSL broadband internet connection

You sure its not when 2 people try to talk at the same time? ... that would get a bit messy and there is definately an echo.
