Problem

Windows XP / SB PCI512

When I am in voice activated, and click start or click to run a program, such as, Battlefield 1942 Demo. The players on the other end here nothing but static. Anyone else have this problem?

Same problem (Windows XP, SB Live Value)

Happens when starting some apps and in MechWarrior4 coming out of a drop or the mechlab. Several others in tonight's drop seemed to have the same problem. All of them were running XP.

Edit: Oh, and switching between Wave and Direct did not make it go away.

Thanks!

I have noticed this and with every user that has reinstalled directx 8.1b the problems went away. every one of the people in my clan that had this issue had winxp (most had never updated directx since it came with 8.1) and SB live's or audigy

btw heyas SlitScan say hello to the rest of LCAF for me.

I didn't know you could d/l DirectX 8.1b for Win XP. Do you just d/l the Win 2000 version?

Hey, Sol! Thanks for helping out. I will pass on your greets.

The site doesn't list an 8.1b download for XP and we've not yet released SP1 for XP. What did the people in CGB you spoke of download/install?

Thanks!

Nay, I've tried with both the DirectX 8.1b runtime and the newer redistributable installations and neither of them change a single file of my DirectX libraries. I've compared dates/versions and they are exactly the same after trying to install them. IMHO there is *no way* of installing 8.1b on Windows XP, you can only install the "hot fixes" or wait till the damn SP1

Thats because XP has DX 8.1 already included.

I replaced my SB Live Value card with an Audigy Gamer today. Problem gone . Perhaps a solution for XP Pro users might be to re-install their current soundcard drivers. This might re-init DX in the same way Sol recommended.
