Cool Hearing myself!?!?!

I'm running a linux ts2 server,
I have win98se client using a c-media 8738 sound chip using headphones,

when anyone connects to my server and if two or more of us transmit at the same time I get echo of my voice from that other person.

Is this common? Is there a solution?

Not complaining! great software!

Sounds more like a "hardware" problem: One microphone seems to pick up your voice from the speaker and transmits it back to you...

go to settings, sound input/output options and set the voice send method to a key rather than voice activation

also tell everyone on your server to do the same

what usually happens is user x sends something and user y's mic pics it up from y's speakers and broadcasts back to user x. unsetting voice activiation fixes this

Or alternatively get all your clan mates to buy headphones instead of using speakers

Talking A possible cause... more of a guess

This thought jumped into my mind:

Maybe it is because the buffer for sound is TOO big and it holds echos?

And it may need to be shrunk that's all?

This same echo thing happened to me, and i happen to like Voice Activation, it's new and exciting to me, so i'm not going to let go of it so easily.

Ussually it is the voice activation, and headphone may not fix the problem either my mic re-transmits sounds from headphones if I have them off my head (maybe I hear load and talk quiet LOL).

Suggest you use PTT if you can't use a convient mute button when going AFK
