TS2 Static Problem
I need help please.....
Let me start by saying I love the quality and performance of TS2 but A few of our Squad members (me included) have had a problem where everything works good we log in to the our game then intermitently all of our transmissions go to full static.
When this happens all we can do is close the game Close TS2 and restart. It happened to me 3 times one night.
I have tried all the options I could think of IE (Realtime, Wave instead of Direct Input, and others)
If there is a fix for this could you let me know
My Layout
1.3 GHZ Athalon
X Gamer 5.1 Soundblaster Live
XP
Cable Modem Connection
WWII Online
Thanks

You all have soundblasters lives?
Seems to be a sb live /(audigy) problem.
Try the latest drivers from creative, or these: http://www.kxproject.com/
Also try the latest ts patch wich MIGHT help. http://forum.teamspeak.com/show...s=&postid=6610
Tell me if it works plz.

It's a known problem and seems to be with SBLive/WinXP.
The latest 'developer releases/use at own risk' forum is
http://forum.teamspeak.com/foru...?s=&forumid=56 - you may want to try the latest client patch. If it fixes the problem, you can be sure the TS2 team would like to know.
Edit: URL fixed.

...Hello all...
I have this particular problem as well.
I play Battlefield 1942 with CATCH-22, and we all use TS2.
Last night, (Only me, btw) I could talk fine while we werent in the game, but once I got in the game after a minute or so, all my Teammembers get is static, whenever I transmit.
The only way to fix the problem, is to get out of the server, close the game, then close TS, then open EVERYTHING back up again...
...then it works ok again....until I get into the next game...
I absolutely hate saying "Help at North Base!!!!!!"
...and getting the response..."QUINT, all we hear is STATIC!"
I have a 2.0 p4
256 mb ddr 266 mhz
40GB hd 7200 rpm
SB Live 1024 Digital sound card
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
any suggestions?
......................................Thank you ,
QUINT

Simple solution
Switch from DirectSound to Wave sound -- fixed the problem for me.
Happens with RC1 13.13 for me with Hercules GameSurround Fortissimo II (Latest drivers), SB Live! Platinum (Latest Drivers), Dell Inspiron 5000e onboard soundcard, etc, etc...

I have exactly the same problem. Only sometimes my teammates in Counterstrike get very loud static noise as soon as i press my push to talk button. Sometimes i can solve the problem by just restarting TS2 (which i really like most and i tried a lot of different voice software packages), but once i had to reboot.
It seems to me that the problem is caused during map change or when i switched in CS into the console. We do not use TS2 for a long time, so i am not absolutely sure if this effect only appears during console or mapchange.
I use TS2 2.0.20.20.
I also have XP and sound blaster live with drivers from Microsoft. I will test with wave sound and if this will not help i will download the latest creative drivers. I will post here again if this helps me. But this effect seems to be related to the combination XP/sb live.

Happens less for me with 20.20
It still happens, eventually, when using DirectX sound.
But right now what we're experiencing is that with 20.20 on a linux 17.20 server, over time each user seems to get louder until they sound like they are shouting, but it keeps on going.
Basically we have to keep restarting teamspeak - whether on an Audigy, Live! or Hercules Fortissimo II - to restore normal recording volume levels.

This was happening to one of our unit members even with TS 1.5, to cure he re-installed his sound card drivers.
It was working fine as of last night on version 1.5, I would assume the same problem with v2 is the drivers as well.

Something quite alike that happens with the recent patch, only that I do not hear static, but all what I do transpit is silence - or nothing. Nobody can hear me until I reconnect/rejoin. This happens to me (linux) as well as several other people (windows) I have met, and seemingly purely random, every one or two hours.

Check this out....
I've noticed the static problem as well....and I've found lower occurances when you DON'T xmit while BF1942 is loading a new map or stage....
Perhaps it's initializing sound drivers?
Just a thought.

Well i have the same problem here. As soon as the map in Ghost Recon or any other game starts, my sound is awfully distorted louder and overall ppl can't hear anythin i say.
When i hit alt+tab everythin is fine but when back in game same story all over again
In windows and when in no game everythin works fine...
I tried everythin; lowering the sound acceleration, all the different combinations of settings in TS-nothin helps..
PIII1.1GHz
Sb Audigy-latest drivers
Win XP Pro SP1
Please try to solve it cuz i dunno what i'm gonna do without it
I wanted to post the dxdiag but its over the post size limit ..

A fellow clanmate turned up with that problem as well tonight. He can hear everybody ok, but all we get is some kind of digital static.
And he's not using a SBLive, but some AC97 onboard sound. Switching between DirectSound and Wave doesn't help.
Most interestingly, he can record his own voice clearly with the audio recorder. He's using 2.0.32.60.
This problem also occurs even with TS having exclusive access to the sound card, no Winamp, no game running.
I have yet to squeeze mobo and other hardware details out of him...

Try turning "Wait For Vertical Sync" to Always On in your graphics card driver settings. This way the operating system has time to do other things while you are playing a 3D game.

Not just SBLive/Audigy
I get this occasionally. I have the AC97 onboard with the ASUS mainboard I use, but I don't use the mic from that. I use an Andrea SoundMAX SuperBeam Array USB mic, with noise cancellation.
The problem is sporadic. Sometimes it's a matter of shutting down TS2 and restarting it. Other times the mic goes entirely to hell and I have to reboot.
Happens pretty rarely here. Has happened when I use EVE, or not even any game--just talking online in general with nothing special open (PuTTY, an Explorer window...etc.).
