“A small trip back to TeamSpeak in 2009...
So, we all want to know where TeamSpeak 5 is and why TeamSpeak has not given us any Information on their Social Media accounts... There is an interview from the Director of Sales for TeamSpeak that was made back in 2009, I think this explains a lot and is probably the reason why they are so silent with TeamSpeak 5.
Here you gooo:
"What would you say was your biggest challenge rebuilding a product that's already successful?"
Well.. without hesitation I'd have to say keeping our Community patient yet Informed about TeamSpeak 3's progress, you know that's a tough thing. It's always a challenge to try to publish information about a new product you're working on knowing very well that your competitors may be among the first to read or to learn about that new feature. We saw that happen in TeamSpeak 2 you know we've been very quiet about TeamSpeak 3 and how we've slowly released Information to the Public. But in terms of time to market you know there's no question that TeamSpeak 3 release is a little belated, but the fact of the matter is that like many other small companies we've had our share of struggles with time and resources...
But what I can assure you of is that TeamSpeak 3 is a quality and superior product compared to other Client-Server Based voice console solutions out there.
And I'm confident that our Fan Base and Online Communities will not be disappointed.
- Director of sales for TeamSpeak in 2009
Tell me what you think!”
What features did TeamSpeak 3 hide/release with that the competitors did not have?
Its beeen 5 days since kosta made the post (at least according to my timezone) nothing has been released yet so I am pretty sure the soon (not in caps) and real soon doesn't mean a few days. Not even September I think.
October- Kosta says trust me soon means October. (October passes away)
November- Kosta says November is not just soon but surely 100% soon. (November passes away)
December- Kosta got nothing to do this month, ScP is pretty sure its 2019 so yeah i guess TS5 will be released that month. (Maybe it can be postponed to Q1 2020 :D)
But we thank you Kosta for passing our tough patient months. At least hope is kindled for the arrival of ts5.
This is a very good explanation and i think everybody can understand this... all this hate was because the silence which is still a thing... post this with a excuse for not hitting the date and i think the whole thing got so much better...
Even an "you didn't have to expect something the next 6 month" would be a better answer then this whole silence thingy... and this "soon" "very soon" "this time really soon" and things like "the beta key is here somewhere" "the winning game with the big words "TS5 is Finally here" without a reaction make it even worse it's 6 months now till the .
Mistakes where made and i think we got a really nice shiny ts5 i'm still hyped for ts5 and the waiting is so hard... looking everyday for some informations and get sad everyday cause there is nothing.
I still think with the release of the winners of the sommer giveaway the beta got started.
This!
I almost forgot they wrote "TS5 is Finally here" 6 Months ago  :D
Maybe it`s not me forgetting... Maybe it`s me just not caring anymore.
All dates and promises were wrong so far. So i don`t expect anything.
In my last post i asked Dante and ScP if they can give us something (anything) right now.
They haven`t even replied.
Maybe that giveaway contest is their way of getting gamers eyes on them no matter what VOIP they use (people want free stuff), then once they announce the winners they can announce the info or even release it and get all those eyes more interested in the new TeamSpeak?
I will just leave this here: https://twitter.com/teamspeak/status...72596482838528
Maybe announcement there?
Usually, it is said for software development for a big community: "release early, release often". Although they are a small development team, Teamspeak chose to not walk this path and go for a big bang release instead. It seems they try to provide a completed client as v5, actually a re-implementation of the existing v3 client with (hopefully) attractive features that makes it look superior to the v3 client.
But one does not quicky re-implement such a client with a completely new development framework and build cool features on top of it with a handful of people within a year. This takes longer if you want to make it right and stable. It seems the project management ability of Teamspeak suffered in the 10 years since the 3.0 release: Instead of letting the community wait without any notice, they missed more state of the art development and release tactics. A never-announced but nevertheless openly downloadable beta core client release as soon as one can make a connection to a server and talk. No complaints from the community, since nobody expected much from a just started client with a "leaked" download link. Every month a new feature implemented on top of it, until the features of the current v3 client are replicated. Unannounced download link goes viral, interested people get accustomed to the new client and give feedback while development takes place, so adjustments can be made as early as possible. Instead of one year of disappointing silence, the community watches a new client grow.
As soon as the new client is big enough, it gets promoted to the main client and the old one is deprecated.
Now, with a wait so long the result can only be disappointment with v5. The expectations have gone so high, they can never be satisfied, with no full-features client ever.
