    Stretched Avatars since 3.0.15.0

    Hey,

today i updated my client to 3.0.15.1 and tried to upload the first (see attachments) avatar. After uploading was done i got the second crappy image.

    • Clients with version 3.0.15.1 see the second, crappy image.
    • Clients with the (old) version 3.0.14 see the first, correct image.

    Can you confirm this?

    Greetings...

    Client: 3.0.15.1 (14.07.2014 14:31:32) [Stable] on Windows 64 bit
    Server: 3.0.10.3 (01.01.2014 17:28:39) on Linux

I say that effect is due to the variables
    #%%AVATAR_MAX_WIDTH%%128
    #%%AVATAR_MAX_HEIGHT%%128
    in the clientinfo.tpl file,
related with the theme and the language selected.

Probably, in the active clientinfo_xx.tpl file some of them hasn't the '#' in the beginning or has a defined value.

This is a known bug. Appeared in client 3.0.15.
We decided to fix this in client 3.0.16 and not in 3.0.15.1

    There is only one workaround:
Delete the avatar -> close the client -> Start and set a new one.

    Edit
It has not been fixed for client 3.0.16

There is a new bug in this version. A bug report is posted below.

    Abstract:
    Avatar sizes act weird.

    Theory:
The avatars are always scaled to the size of your first avatar in a TeamSpeak session.
Here I define a TeamSpeak session to start when the TeamSpeak client is launched, and to end when the TeamSpeak client is entirely shut down

    Reproduction:
    1) Connect to a server - On this server you will need the permission to set and display avatars
    2) Upload a 100x100 avatar - the avatar will properly appear in 100x100
    3) Upload a 16x200 avatar - the avatar will be scaled to 100x100 instead of being properly displayed as 16x200
    4) Upload a 200x50 avatar - the avatar will be scaled to 100x100 instead of being properly displayed as 200x50
    5) Exit the TeamSpeak client
    6) Start the TeamSpeak client - Note: Simply disconnecting and reconnecting will not be enough. You need to exit and restart the TeamSpeak client
    7) Connect to the same server as in step 1 again - the avatar will properly appear in 200x50
    8) Upload a 100x100 avatar - the avatar will be scaled to 200x50 instead of being properly displayed as 100x100
    All avatar sizes in px

    Testing Environment:
Server: TeamSpeak 3.0.13.3 using SQLite 3.7.13 2012-06-11 02:05:22 on Debian Wheezy (Kernel: SMP Debian 3.2.57-3+deb7u1 x86_64)
    Client 1: TeamSpeak 3.0.15.1 [Stable] on Windows 7 SP1 x64
    Client 2: TeamSpeak 3.0.15.1 [Stable] on Windows 8 x32
Also confirmed by many other users using various Windows computers as client

    Conclusion:
I think you get the idea of the reproduction steps. This wrong avatar size appears to all users, not only to yourself. (Maybe only to those users who have the new TeamSpeak client version.)

Problem with Avatars in teamspeak 3

    Hello,
I'm not sure but I think it's since the new Teamspeak 3 update, there's a problem with the avatars,
before it I could set any picture as an avatar and it would fit like it should be, with the picture normal pixels
and size, but now when I put an avatar it's auto changes to some resolution and I can't change it to the normal size...
I don't really know what's the problem but I can't put normal pictures in avatar now without it changing,
Oh and by the way there's no changing when I put gif as an avatar.
anyway if someone can answer about this it would be nice, thanks.

    Exclamation Avatar deformed

    Hello,
since some days, maybe weeks, my avatar is totally deformed. Its like the length was capped to 100 pixel or so (i know its capped to like 300x300 normally), and my avatar just looks ugly.
Its the same pictures i use since... ever... so its not my imagination

Also, since i downloaded a new ts3 client its not the length but the hight that seems capped and causes my avatar to be deformed, which isnt any better

    Important:
It seems like im the only one having this problem. And the only avatar that looks like this, is my own! I asked a friend and he said that it's looking completely normal. I googled this bug and found only one similar case, in another forum. But it was pretty much ignored. It was like a week old or so, so maybe the bug doesnt exist very long. Wasnt there an update lately?

I really really hope someone can help me. Im that kind of person who likes to have his avatar visible, but not if its totally out of shape.

    EDIT:
Some informations that might help too:
    Windows 7,
    havent had the problem before,
using up to date versions of everything, i guess.

PS: Hope my english isnt too bad

    Kind regards
    Fabian

I could swear that i didnt have these problems before, tho. I mean i remember me switching my avatar around to so many pictures without this "bug" appearing in earlier versions of the client. But since it solves the problem i have with my avatar appearance my problem is solved so far.

    Thank you very much!

    Avatar is deformed

    Hi,

since update 3.0.15.1 (now I have 3.0.16, but no change), the avatar I set in TS3 is deformed.
Seems, that the picture just stretches (unproportionally) to both horizontal and vertical borders.
Since it appears just with the .15.1 update, I think it is a bug?
Changelog of 3.0.15.1 says, there were some changes in the upload routines.
And no, I did not upload huge pictures.

    Try to upload a portrait e.g. 300x450px.

Is there a possibility to set preferences of avatar dimensions / proportions in TS3?

    Thanks,
    Coniaric

It was delayed till a later version. As long as the title doesn't say Resolved, or the changelog mentions it, don't assume it's been fixed.
When sending PMs please make sure to include a reference link to the thread in question in the body of your message.

    Avatar scaling bug

    Client 3.0.16 (04.08.14 09:42:43) [Stable] on Windows
    Server 3.0.10.3 (01.01.14 11:28:39) on Linux

I uploaded a new avatar on two servers. The new avatar scaled to the size of my previous avatar both times even after deleting.

I'll try to reproduce again tomorrow and post screenshots if it continues.

    Question Avatar dimensions won't resize?

Ever since one of the recent updates, whenever I try and change my avatar, it resizes it to the incorrect dimensions so that the picture is all stretched out and distorted. This never used to happen, it would always keep the dimensions of the original picture. Any ideas on how to fix this?
