Solved More space for private messages?

Please change the value for the private messages on this forum, how many a forum account can store. 20 messages (including sent messages) is quite nothing and sometimes I like to keep some messages until a discussion is over or something like that.

Backing that. It's really hard for addon developers.

Well, no changes was made here. Can this be done, or does private messages need to much space at the MySQL database (which I doubt)?

Backing that too. We were affected by the 'account full' when we sent the files for updating the PC translations. No warning message, the account was full and the files weren't send... and we were waiting for an answer that never arrived.

Guess there is an (unknown) reason for this, like there was for removing the avatars some time ago...
On the other side, most forum me know and was on (on all levels) had restrictions about PM, the activity should be on the forum, not on private messages.

Some stuff are better using private message (like sending config files and stuff like that). I'm registered on many forums, but not one forum has so small limits for private messages like this!

There's nothing really sensitive in configs and logs.
If you don't understand it, you don't understand generic IT security considerations.

ANR Daemon, are you sure your answer is related with this thread?

Thank you, that was exactly what I thought.

Yes, I think it is, because he told you that for the sake of the exchange of configs no one needs to use PM. They could be discussed in public so that everyone is able to participate.

Ok, Barungar, now I see it. It would be clearer "to quote" a previous post.

Well, in my case, I only wanted to send a PM with the link for the update of the translation files and the system didn't warn me the PM pool was full, just didn't sent the message. For me, as good solution would be to increase the space as to inform it's full when you try to send.

    Still no changes here.

I already stopped supporting using private messages. It's to annoying.

We increased max stored private messages from 20 up to 50.
When sending me private messages: Please make sure to include reference link to your forum thread or post.

I've never provided support via private messages and I'll never do. A forum is intended to let the community see the solution so others won't face the same issues. A PM is intended to share personal information such as server IPs or email addresses.

Anyway... raising the limit from 20 to 50 is a good thing.
