NPL license - Unable to find valid license key, falling back to limited functionality

    Hello there!

I've browsed a lot of threads and checked a lot of things, but I can't seem to find the problem.

tried 644 and 666, made no difference. It's currently 666.

EDIT: do I still need a serverkey.dat ? It seems my current one is corrupted (to be precise: it's all in strange characters, might just be encrypted)

Serverkey.dat is not meant to be human-readable.

Rebooted the machine for what it's worth, still nothing.

EDIT: just to be complete: the license was an expired license which has been renewed by support yesterday.

If you received your license by mail, you should not "unpack" it.

Define unpack it. My license key is placed in my server's TS directory, and is human-readable as shown in my first post, no alterations have been made to my initial licensekey which has been in use since 2011 until early 2014. A renewal has been granted a few days ago.

Copy it from the mail as is. Don't use any archivers or what not.
It was a long standing issue in the past, when Apple mail cleint "conveniently" unpacking the license key, turning it invalid.

Is the correct date set in your key file?

Wait, this only hit my mind.
You said your license expired, and... what you did? Requested an automatic resend from TeamSpeakUSA website?
I'd like to break into you, that the automatic system does not send reneved licenses. It will send you your same old, expired license key.

Probably not, it's the old one I've been using for years now, date has not been changed since 2011. But the same file did work for me in 2012, 2013 and 2014 even though end date states 2011.

    @ ANR Daemon:
TSUSA has renewed my existing license, I requested this via a support ticket.

I've sent another ticket, just in case. Maybe an issue on their end.

This is my current licensekey.dat, I replaced personal info with ******.

    Code:
    Company name : ******
    address : ******
    zipcode : ******
    city : ******
    country : ******
    phone : ******
    fax :
    sales contact: ****** (******)
    tech contact : ****** (******)

    type : Nonprofit
    start date : Mon Nov 21 00:00:00 2011
    end date : Wed Nov 21 00:00:00 2012
    max. virtual servers: 10
    max. slots : 512
    description : TeamSpeak 3 Non-Profit License (******)

    ==key==
    ************
Can anyone link the format of a recent licensekey.dat file?

The last part of my license might be the cause to my problems? Will the license work with that start and end date, and doesn't max. virtual servers need to be "2"? This is the renewed license I recieved from support, but it seems not to be updated. Is that normal? My previous server crashed, so I can't compare it to the latest version of my licensekey.dat, I can only show this one I recieved recently.

EDIT: my file might also contain hidden linebreaks, I will check that later.

The problem is not related to license date.
This can only be changed, when the old license was read/loaded into the server and the accounting server was reached.

"Unable to find valid license key, falling back to limited functionality" this message tells one of 4 possible problems.
    1. Your User who did start the server can not read the license file. Check the permissions for this user.
    2. The license file is not placed in server main folder (default: next to binary) or has not the expected name.
    3. The file is broken, but yours looks ok.
    4. You can not contact the accounting server. But it looks ok too from your server log.
When sending me private messages: Please make sure to include reference link to your forum thread or post.

    All seemed correct.

I have found the problem though, well not exactly the problem, but a fix.

I deleted the entire server, and reinstalled. All is working now, still clueless why it didn't work as it was a fresh install to begin with

Thank you all for the assistance.
